The plugin works without problem in the gemini Image (for me on my DM8000), the problem was that i have test it in a BarryAllen Muliboot System.

Hi together, I o this community... I do not (yet) use PLI images, but want to use this plugin... I got everything installed, and the plugin is there...
But the ambx- set does not do anything.

Therefor my questions:
How can I troubleshoot this?
How can I check, if the ambx is recognized by the box (DM 8000) ?
Which processes should run, if everything is ok?

Thanx in advance
Tode

P.S.: I really appreciate your work...

After you've downloaded the plugin you have to reboot the box or at least restart Enigma.
Offcourse you have your Ambix set up and running and connected.
After reboot / restart Enigma you push the blue button and there you can run and adjust the plugin.

I haven't got it installed at the moment so I have to advice you by heart, but as I recall right you can choose several things when running the plugin. Video or color, intensity like light, bright, dark and some other adjustments. Just try it out.

You can run some diagnostics on the command line, but it should work after installing, without any reboot. The kit must be connected *before* you start the plugin. Otherwise, you may need to restart Enigma.

Commandline diagnostics:

ipkg install ambx-test
testambx

This should give a light show, and/or some terminal output...

There's no separate process, the plugin runs in Enigma.

Thank you for your replies. Sorry for not answering these days. But I had some problems with my Oozoon oe 1.6- Image. It freezed a lot, so I first had to flash and setup a new Image.
IO took one based on oe1.5. There I instantly got the plugin to work.
Seems to be an incompatibility with oe 1.6 (I already had to install with force-depends, because libPython was in a Version that is to new and therefor was not recognized).

I should have mentioned, that I used oe 1.6, sorry for that.

The plugin works great on my 8000, even my wife likes the effect.
In my opinion the side- leds should be a litte stronger, but I think this is a hardware- limitation.
Or is there a way to "brighten" them somehow?

Best regards
Tode

P.S.: Before I forget: The setting "bright" seams to have an effect only when "Color" is chosen, not for "Video". Is this the way it is supposed to work?

It's open source. Anyone can compile that for you.

Hi,

I am also very new to PLI and the ambx plugin. I also have not really a clue on how to compile it for other images.

What (and how) can I do to compile it for Gemini 5.0, based on oe1.6? I gues I will need an ubuntu installation? or can I do it directly under Gemini? Am grateful for any advise!

P.S.: Tried to find a howto using the search but wasn't lucky...

Thanks in advance!
Marcel

python don`t need compilation, take .py files.

I am also one of the persons who bought a Philips AMBX after I saw, that this plugin is available. It worked fine on 1.5 Images, but since I use 1.6- Images it cannot be installed anymore.

I have no idea of compiling anything or even how to build an environment...

Is anyone here with an environment who can do that for us stupids?

I know, that the python-files don't have to be compiled... But the first problem is, that you cannot install the plugins, because a dependency is not fullfilled (python>2.5 or something)
Even if you install with "force-depends", it will not run.

And I do not know, if any of the c++- code has to be recompiled for the new kernel...

Please: Is anyone out there, who can at least tell us, what to do?

Thank you very much.
Tode

I think if you build an openpli-2.0-pre branch image, the resulting ambx stuff should probably run fine on opendreambox-1.6 derived images.

Ask your image creator to do it for you. Thus, if you use Gemini, ask someone from Gemini. They already have everything they need.

We from PLi support PLi...
