You cannot start (or stop) an Enigma2 plugin using telnet.

running openpli with ba on my pendrive

This is the first issue you should solve as we do not know how PLi behaves running on the bootloader/drivers/kernel etc... from your image in the flash...

Hi,
i'm running ambx 0.4+git50 on an OE1.6 Image (Dream 8k). Sometimes the Box crashes with a empty crashlog.
Before the install of ambx i never had problems with the box. any ideas why its crashing?

Regards
Bin4ry

with the 8k that's to be expected (due to the way the decoder data is grabbed).
On the 800, it's not really expected to crash.

Maybe someone should contact the atmo-plugin coders, they made great progress and the grabber works quite good even on 8k. Would be nice if you can get it running without crashes :)
I love this project :D

I see some information about the plugin on this site (in German):
http://www.vdr-wiki....php/Atmo-plugin

At the bottom of the article there are links to the builders site and development forum. Maybe this is usefull (or at least maybe you can contact the builders this way).

@Bin4ry: Maybe you can ask them to release the grabber code for the DM8000 to Milo who made the amBX plugin (preferably open source off course). Your German is a lot better than mine I would think ;)

I'd love to see the crashes fixed for the 8000. My amBX is now not in use and only collecting dust because of the crash problem.

There is also a thread on IHAD about Atmolight - HERE
My DM800 also restarts itself while running AMBX with the empty crashlog but mabye is it because I'm running latest Oozoone in flash and BA with OpenPli on my usb stick.
Will test it on a clean image in flash.

A link to the code (or a copy) would help. I don't have the time to weed through a hundred posts on various discussion boards...

Hello Milo!

Yes it would be very nice if you can optimize the code, because on my dm800 i got very big troubles with timeshift since ambx is running.
Timshift SD seems to work, but really bad, and Timeshft HD only stuck.

And i got the same problem, that enigma2 restarts

Had contact with Mamba, but he doesn't do anything different.

Probably, the difference is that his grabber is running in a separate process, and thus doesn't take enigma with it when it keels over. So that appears to be the "solution".

Is there any way to make this for our AmbX Plugin? Because i think most people would agree if enigma is still running, but the lights going out for some seconds.

And do you got any idea to optimize the grapping that it didn't use so mutch cpu power so that i can timeshift ?

The grabber is only using "leftover" CPU cycles, so it uses 100% CPU if possible, but that shouldn't affect other things... Not using 100% CPU will not improve your performance at all, it will just reduce the quality of the rendering.

Is your timeshift located on a USB device? That might explain something...

No sorry, my timeshift location is the internal hdd, and if i disable the ambx plugin it seems to work great.
Hm, currently checked top, seems that the grabber runs with nice? is it possible to set the priority lower?
