First of all a very well done for all your hard work.

I woudl like to ask if its possible to add the category field in the files you generate. Don't know about engima2 Enigma1 users can use MV to list all films and have a nice graphical EPG where different cataegory programs are coloured differently.

Not all our sources have a category listed. And from those that have we have removed it.
Enigma2 does not support it.

I am usng MV on my enigma1 box, but I never used the category option.

We look into the possibility of leaving the existing category tags into the XMLTV file. This will not give you the category for most of the channels, but a number of channels will ahve then this tag.

I have discussed this with the team members and the conclusion is:

We do not change anything.

Reason: Only a few channels have this tag. Most of our sources do not have the information, and we cannot create it for the sources that do not have the category information.

The result will be that only a few channels would have the tag, and the overall result would be unusable. Some channels would have it, but most do not have it.
