I am a bit reluctant adding stuff to my tools that I don't fully understand.
Won't it be a better idea to let PLi know if a new version is out, so it can be added to the feeds?

Have to agree with you on that I dont like it as the script calls for oscam as a softcam and I for one use oscam as a card server :)

I don't think you could add it to the PPanel persey, you'd probably have to add the script to the package and call the script from the PPanel. Sounds more like a candidate for a standalone PPanel or plugin.

I dont understand. Scripts doesnt call oscam as a softcam because oscam is softcam AND cardserver.
It only changes main file.

Any why is this script handy. Because we sometimes get 5+ new versions of oscam every day... I agree that using ppanels isnt a good solution. All we need is possibility to execute this script from openpli menu. But this isnt possible.

Sorry I was looking at the wrong script file indeed yours does not look for oscam as a softcam I got one from the VIX site that was for PLi that I was looking at.
Still dont know what the hassle is when you can just change the binary file manually :).
I tend to find a version of oscam that works correctly and maybe update every 2 months

No idea what box you are talking about, so I don't know.
But it needs PLi's PPanel to be installed. If that is installed, it will work.

Although this is not an answer: why would you want to run an OI? Just install PLi and I am quite sure you will be happy (and have the PPanel for free).

Then what about just getting a daily version in the build with the regular update (project-valerie works that way)?

All it takes is just a oscam-trunk (there's already a oscam-experimental and oscam-stable) recipe that automatically follows the svn state.

(The one thing I really like about oscam is that it's built from source and you can see what's in it. Fetching some binary sort of kills that - you can't really be sure what's in it.)

I find the PPanel very useful. But a few small tweaks would improve it. Below is my own version of Plugins/PLi/PPanel/ppanel.py

It has:
2 line area for helptext, instead of 1, auto-wrapping the 'helptext=' string as required.
Slightly wider panel to reduce the need to scroll right
Current line highlighting when viewing output to assist reading when scrolled right or track through blocks of text.

Interesting!
But it is of course up to PLi if they want to implement that.
Maybe you'd better ask them that specifically, as I'm not sure if they are reading this topic about one ppanel.
