I'm using Ubuntu in 10.04 still. Will be here some unwanted surprice after upgrade to 11.10 or newer for E2 development ?

If we would tell, it wouldn't be a surpise anymore, now would it? ;-)
But, seriously, I couldn't say. I've seen the build environment break numerous times when upgrading, so it is likely to break yes.

there should be no problems.
My newest PC runs 12.04, and the only trouble I had was getting rid of unity.
But no issues with bitbake and oe.

I switched to Mint Debian Cinnamon/Mate.to avoid these Ubuntu-surprises.

yes, gnome still exists.
In fact, unity is still gnome, with a different style (probably very nice if you are using it on a tablet, but not so nice for a pc)

update to 12.04 ( switched to classic) ... some surprices after update:

- after update was mails ok, but next run Evolution and mails are empty
- for time, when is turned-off monitor due inactivity, in this time coolers begin increasing rpm. On 11.04 was all ok.
- when use doubleclick in Krusader on some file, file is open in gedit, but is created always "unnamed file" too.

Same problem as reported in post 172 ..
ERROR: Function failed: Fetcher failure for URL: 'git://openpli.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/openpli/enigma2;protocol=git;branch=master'. Unable to fetch URL from any source.
There didn't seem to be a resolution to the error

A very common question asked by a lot of persons.

How to acces my box using sftp client from nautillus, Fillezilla or Gftp ??

Even more common Help I can not acces my box trough ssh from nautilus or Filezilla. !!

Wel the answer is simple at the base this is not possible indeed since not all required modules are installed for that.
Actually it's just a simple module called sftp-server which must be installed for that.
This module is part off package openssh.
The module does work also for the openpli's ssh which is using dropbear.
For that reason it is not needed to install the openssh server. Just install the module sftp-server.

How to ?

I just added the way in openpli's wiki.

You don't need the fully bloated sftp for transferring files and such, you can use "scp" (and its windows version) on the built-in dropbear ssh implementation.
