You're absolutely right. I think if I succeed in selling the Gigablue I'll give ET-XXXX a try.

Indeed, better option would be Xtrend ;)

Yes, but on the other hand Xtrend acts as a deterrent with his tricky marketing.
e.g.
The ET-9500 is officialy advertised with:
Flash: 8 Gbit
Somebody could think that this means 8 Gigabyte. Misleading Advertising is banned in Germany.
-> 8Gbit ≠ 8 Gigabyte = 1 Gigabyte

Hi,

lol, don't think so, that it is misleading. 8bit = 1byte simple calcution. And unit is not available, yet. So i suggest you to pickup the ET9200 for instance or wait for the new one. But this 8Gbit Marketing offensive creates not a Nogo for buying it.

According to many sat forums people are thinking like me. This misguiding marketing caused loss of confidence so that many people avoid Xtrend receivers.

All manufacturers claim PIP functionality, but forget to mention it does not work for HD channels (except on the dm8000). That's way more misleading. I've also seen claims of 200Mbps network (they figure 100 both ways makes 200), and similar borderline misleading.

@Sjaaky
I'm a adherent to opensource and so I have used OpenPli Images in all my Linux Receivers (E1/E2). I sold my Vu+ due to thinking that Gigablue would be the best price-performance ratio.
I expected that all mayor teams will support them because it uses BCM Mips processor. But that didn't happen and so we have to suffer with the buggy TeamRed Image. Simple things like SNR on cable reception doesn't work or most of the plugins are not working on it. The development of this Image is disimproving more and more. That's why I'm sad and mostly I´m rather annoyed - with me, cause I sold my Vu+Duo.

To finnish whit this, I say your that the problem is not of pli team, the problem is the gigablue factory.

I and others members in other forums, speek whit gigablue factory for send one or two box at pli team for work whit this box, is impossible for the openpli team work in a box whitou this box, and not response and not send the box to a openpli team.

In spanish, the oficial importer of this box, insted for my, he speek whit the gigablue factory for send one or two box for openpli team, but this factory not answer nothing the nothing.

Look in a spanish, italian and red-team forum, this box is dead, sorry for the people that have this box, but this is true.

Regards

we are not looking to support the Gigablue STB, so there is NO need to send us one or two or more Gigablue boxes

on the Glassfibre 1GB DVB-C...

@hemertje: I guess we made that clear before.

Too bad for gigablue owners, indeed.

GB has pretty much nil support. Some images from openAAF (based on OpenPLI...) & TeamRead, few Nightly Builds from openmips
Yet it costs 2/3 of the Vu+ Uno and does display footy in HD... (so can live with it)

Hi Javier,
just read your questions regarding bluebox.
I'm wondering,
if the provided vu solo kernel is in elf or in binary/compressed format

flash -noheader usbdisk0:ker_e2.img flash1.user
setenv -p STARTUP "boot -z -elf flash0.kernel: 'rootfstype=jffs2 root=/dev/mtdblock6 rw mem=150m '"

at least the cfe command expects an elf-file, not a binary.
you can download cfe documentation for some other broadcom chips. But not every command is implemented in every bootloader, as well as STB manufacturer amendmends will exist.

SifTeam has released new images for all the Gigablue boxes: 800 solo, 800 se, 800 ue, Quattro.

You can find them here (the forum is in Italian):
http://forum.sifteam...i-gigablue.html

Of course all this images are based on OpenPli.
