Thanks to people that helped me to have my A835 working :)
I hope this little guide can help other people.
--------------------------------------------------------
AVerMedia A835 AVerTV Volar HD is a DVB-T USB stick with HD capabilities http://www.avermedia...ail.aspx?Id=508 based on AF9035 chipset
The "PRO" model has into the package a remote control (useless with a STB), so don't buy it or waste your money.

With my Clarke Tech ET9100 with OpenPli 2.1 2011-10-16 (kernel 2.6.31) works fine without using a powered usb hub. My stick is connected directly in a CT9100 rear USB port.

It's slow to tune a channel in a different trasponder: about 5 seconds. I suggest you to disable "Tune error failed" message in Enigma2
(Menù->Setup->System->Customize->Hide zap errors = YES)

You must install some packages to have it working
Connect to CT9100 console (using Telnet or SSH) and do :
opkg update
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-dvb-usb
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-mxl5007t
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-tda18218
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-tua9001
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-af9033
opkg install v4l-dvb-module-dvb-usb-af9035
(dont care about message: "FATAL: Module dvb_usb_af9035 not found.")
update-modules

Copy file dvb-usb-af9035-01.fw (attached here) in /lib/firmware/
Copy file terrestrial.xml (attached here) in /etc/tuxbox/ : it's a very rich terrestrial transponder list (tested in Italy).

Switch off CT9100, insert in a rear USB the Avermedia stick, switch on CT9100
Now you have a third TUNER C and you can do a new automatic scan. Enjoy !

I don't know if driver AF9035 works with VHF channels (7MHz bandwidth): I know that there are problems with this....

This is my relevant lsusb

I've found 2 bugs.

1) SNR/BER showed in infobar is always 0%
Problem with driver ?

2) in Italy some problem to find all DTT channels.
First of all I've done an automatic scan. It find 231 channels. Some channels are "skipped" in my area (i.e. RAI4 514MHZ) but they exist.
Obviously all transponders frequencies are INTO my terrestrial.xml provided above.

So I've done a manual scan -> complete disabling "network scan" option.
Why ? Because in the past I helped DuoLabs (QboxHD) to solve the same problem. Some "network data" feed by italian DTT transponders are incorrect and many channels are skipped if scan follow network data.
DuoLabs developers added the option "Enable Network scan = no (default)" in Tuner Configuration so Automatic Scan has by default the network scan disabled.
It looks to solve the problem in QboxHD.

But here with CT9100 no success with manual scan->complete and network scan disabled: found 231 channels as before.

So I've done a manual scan for EVERY UHF frequency starting from 474000 KHz with step 8 Mhz to reach 858000 KHz
30 minutes job.
Now I have 262 channels.

This is very strange. I don't know why automatic scan or manual scan->complete with network scan disable not find all channnels.
I repeat: all transponder frequencies are into terrestrial.xml

I don't know Egami: I'm a newbie in Clarke Tech (but no in E2 decoder: I use them since 2007 and I write some low-level software and many python plugin for E2).

Mmhhh Egami has the same 2.6.31 kernel and same kernel modules ?

Current versions of Egami, SifTeam, Vix images are still based on kernel 2.6.18, while OpenPli and its derivative (ClarkeTech, HDFreaks, ...) are based on the newer 2.6.31.
Anyway, all teams are basing their next images on the new kernel, as Xtrend and ClarkeTech have dropped support of the old kernel since June.

Thanks. I suppose this.

There is a OpenPli mantainer of af9035 driver ? Can we discuss with about the SNR bug ? BTW BER is correctly showed in infobar. The problem is only about SNR always 0%

Hi,
here are my problems :):

- as Ambrosa i've some problem using automatic scan with the a385 chipset into my clarke with openpli 2.1.
- receive tuner failed error (solved by suppressing the message as ambrosa suggests) and after that i can see the channel
- receive tuner failed error then PAT error and there is no way to see the channel, sometimes (rarely) after several minutes of black screen the tuner start working. In dmesg during the black screen i see this errors:

dvb_demux_feed_del: feed not in list (type=0 state=0 pid=ffff)

Regards

D.

Ok, one update:

- receive tuner failed error then PAT error and there is no way to see the channel, sometimes (rarely) after several minutes of black screen the tuner start working. In dmesg during the black screen i see this errors:

dvb_demux_feed_del: feed not in list (type=0 state=0 pid=ffff)

This error occurs only for my fault! :P the antenna cable was broken (the plug was not correctly assembled) and only some freq works..

Sorry :-)

Since tonight 29 Oct 2011, Pli has added support for AF9035 in newer kernel 3.0.3

You must install these modules:
opkg update
opkg install kernel-module-tda18218
opkg install kernel-module-tda18218
opkg install kernel-module-mxl5007t
opkg install kernel-module-tua9001
opkg install kernel-module-af9033
opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035

and obviously firmware and terrestial.xml (see first post)

AF9035 looks to work fine.

So its working better than with old kernel?

If yes, then congrats to CT developers that they brought to us new 3.0.3 kernel.

what do you mean for "better"? :) the new driver works fine except for a "little problem" (if problem is...) the channel zapping is very very slow (about 2-3secs). Can someone confirm this problem?

There is problem with automatic kernel module loading.

Please manually do:
echo "dvb-usb-af9035" > /etc/modutils/dvb-usb-af9035
update-modules

and reboot

I hope will be fixed in next Pli releases

Is thaty will work on vuduo. I tryed tooday but it doesn't work. We alreday asked pli team before to solve this problem. I bouth this card as it was listed as the one which works with vu duo without any problems. Now it's looks that it's only work on some images (I tested on BH, readed about VIX) Is that any chance it will work on openpli for more boxes?
