@nobody9: Thanks for all your work on this project, it is much appreciatd and valued.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 desktop version. What confuses me is that the libXext.so is there (and linked to the latest version) but is not recognised.

I will try it on ubuntu 11.10 (although this might be more challenging as it seems somewhat unstable) as well.

I tested openpli enigma2 on Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10, 11.10, everything installs without a problem.

@nobody9
What is not working properly yet in Openpli Enigma2? With what are the problems?

Hi bl4ck,

i don´t have any feedback from users was not working.
I have also a dvbapi CA running and it works good (don´t ask at the moment).
I only remember that when a recording stop the live tv also stops.
I think Openpli Enigma2 is not so the problem. I think we must look that we get OSD running on the xine XSHM-Displaydriver it runs with the most Graphiccards.
When you have a look in the patch dir you will found a patch to add lirc-support to enigma2. At the moment we don´t use it.
regards,

nobody9

It seems there is something funny on my 10.10 box as it keeps failing. However the 11.10 box built fine. I dont have a tuner installed, so I cant see pictures.
When I run enigma2 I get the splash screen for openpli, but none of the mapped keys work - it says when I press the space bar in log:
SDL Key Down: key=65
action-> InfobarMenuActions mainMenu
loading mainmenu XML...
pluginBrowser PluginBrowser
event...
XNextEvent 3
SDL Key Up: key=65
FLUSH

No menu is displayed.

Which dvbs2 card/box is best to use with this build?

The mapped keys work you don´t have a Nvidia Card, at the moment you only get with Nvidia cards OSD(Menus of enigma2).
This is the next big point to get OSD working on other cards then nvidia (i hope i get some help for this).

I also have no Tuner installed in my Linux Box. I use Vtuner to share a tuner from my STB. To the linux box.

@nobody9: thanks for that. I have a NVidia in the 10.10 box, so I will try to sort it out and then try to set up VTuner - that seems like a good idea initially as I have several dreamboxes.

1) I've tried a simple test with openpliPC and a DVB-T USB stick inserted into PC

With SD channels it works fine.

With HD channels it doesn't work correctly.
After few seconds image freeze.

The same DVB-T stick with VLC works fine with HD channels

2) there is a way to do image deinterlacing ? Image is interlaced and is not very nice to watch.

1)
in /usr/local/share/enigma2/xine.conf
engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:1000
to
engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:2000 or higher

2) look in enigma2/system/a/v settings
their you can set many options for video also deinterlacing

Deinterlacing work.

But problem about freeze HD channels still here also increasing "engine.buffers.video_num_buffers"
Sound strange.
I will investigate tomorrow...

A question that might b considered stupid (I have no video hardware experience):

Will the NVidia ION graphics card work correctly (OSD) with the current setup or does it have to be a specific NVidia card?
I am now tryng to make it run on a Zotac ZBox (atom dual core/NVidia ION graphics) as this will be a nice bit of hardware to use as an STB super plus.
It also has HDMI out, NVIDIA® CUDA™, PureVideo™ HD and HDMI 1.3a

It will have to use a USB DVB-S2 tuner as it has no space for an internal card, so any recommendations will be appreciated. In the meantime I will use VTuner.

Note: the 10.10 box just will not build, but it has loads of stuff on it, including OpenPli build enviroments for dreambox - I think I have conflicts galore.

@ambrosa:
I had HD freeze problems with VLC on DM800HD and it turned out to be network glitches that caused the problem. I also have a DM500HD that did not suffer from this.
Is there any chance that the USB device is bottlenecking the stream into enigma, noting that VLC is written in C and can drive the USB(hardware control) quicker than python (I would assume).

Hi thank you so far i`m using it on ubuntu 11.04 32bit enigma runs great with the building scripts so you can add that to list.

i`m also trying to setup the same config dm8000 as a server and the i686 as a client but they just don`t seem to connect

can you enlighten me how you setup the vtuner on both machines

i wasted more time trying to setup the vtuner then when i had building enigma :)
