Ubuntu 17.04 support is stopped?! And now what? Use a raw distributive without long life support?

Idiocy...

@1455,

You mentioned Softhddevice in your previous replies,

It means that you use VDR ... right?

In VDR if you tried to tune to any channel and were not able to get a signal lock

What will you notice?

VDR could hang for 2 sec or so

However, if you face the same situation using Enigma2 ... it will hang forever trying to tune to that channel with that annoying blue icon which indicates that the device is busy.

How to solve that issue?

I just want it to tune to any channel once or two times only

Is that possible?

I have a very old version of vdr on a separate hdd with ubuntu 14.04. I have not run it for a long time. This also works, but it does not automatically generate own config. The other day I'll see which versions were installed.

It's Okay, there is no need to check which VDR version you got, that was just an example.

My problem is that Enigma2 hangs whenever there is no signal lock and that blue icon in the red square appears then keeps moving on forever because Enigma2 tries to tune to that channel again and again.

I just want it to tune to any channel one time only like VDR.

Choose ubuntu versions wisely: https://www.ubuntu.c...ase-end-of-life

17.04 wasn't a LTS version so no complain, Use 16.04 LTS and wait for 18.04 LTS ;)

roxette, at me too similar occurs or happens. Obviously, need to fix this. :)

Are you sure that there are no duplicates in your cannels list and that your channels list is valid? I simply delete these channels from the list or start scanning with the removal of old entryes.

Hello 1455,

Yes, i have started a new scan and deleted old channels too.

I just have some channels with a weak signal, those channels can work for sometime(maybe during the day) and i got no signal at night.

I don't want to delete them,

What i want is Enigma2 works the same way like VDR or Kodi or any other program on windows like ProgDVB.

When i click on any channel it either work or not.

I don't want Enigma2 to try to tune to that channel more than 1 time or 2 times max.

Hi Shadowman94,

I have Technisat Skystar Express HD with crazycat media build,

The card works  flawlessly with a strong signal for almost all channels.

Those channels with weak signals are due to another satellite weak coverage.

(I have 2 satellites + diseqc)

I think if i have another tv card i won't even be able to receive those weak signals at all.

skystar.png

Your tv card demodulator is STB0899, i read that it causes problems on linux but you can give it a try and install crazycat media build.

 The problem is related to Enigma2 itself, i think @1455 understood what i meant and he will try to fix it  :)

roxette, this phenomenon is very difficult to catch. It occurs in the file servicedvb.cpp, the function
RESULT eDVBServicePlay::timeshift(ePtr<iTimeshiftService> &ptr).
One way is to disable this function, but then timeshift will not work.
Сonditions of appearance:
- poor weather;
- the attempt to update pids from an unstable signal;
- too long stream decoding;

This is uncertain state. Eigma can't determine what to do with this.
If we have garbage at the input, in this case we'll see a 'spinner' (what did you call "the blue icon"). In some cases this causes an infinite loop. For example, I caught this phenomenon, but after 15 minutes the signal completely disappeared and the spinner no longer appeared.
The question arises: do the developers have an opinion on this? What condition should be entered to interrupt an infinite loop?

I installed crazycat's media_build, now it seems the signal level are higher, but BER is still too... :/

@1455,
I appreciate the time you spent trying to solve that issue.

It also occurs under the conditions you specified
+
- Driver problem
- Satellite weak coverage (like my case)
- A problem in the antenna adjustment, LNB, coaxial cable or diseqc
- Transponders update

image.png

That animation can be disabled in user interface settings but surely will not stop that infinite loop.
Once it happened and i went to eat dinner then when i come back that animation was still there :)
I wonder if Dreambox owners face that problem too?
Can you share the modified servicedvb.cpp to be able to try it?
I don't use timeshift anyway.

@Mounir67,
I have tried that as well but the problem isn't solved.

@Shadowman94,
So, is the automatic scan problem solved?
You didn't notice any improvements at all?

@roxette

Maybe its still driver problem, cuz on Windows works properly :) it's only happend with DVB-S2 transponders.

Yeah, everythings work but this, high BER on S2 transponders
