"ca_descr-t not fund" -> solution.
The script should have itself rewritten сa.h.
If this didn't happen, you can manually:

cp -f pre/ca.h /usr/include/linux/dvb
cp -f pre/ca.h /usr/src/linux-headers-4.15.0-*/include/uapi/linux/dvb

I temporarily uploaded the original xine-lib at the link below. Put the archive in the folder /usr/src/enigma2pc-6.2. Comment next lines and save in the script 3:

#if [ -d $PKG_OLD ]; then
#   rm -fR $PKG_OLD
#fi
#if [ -d $PKG ]; then
#    rm -fR $PKG
#fi

#    hg clone -r 13414 --insecure https://anonscm.debian.org/hg/xine-lib/xine-lib-1.2-vdpau

We will need to get 18.04 anyway. I've been using "Bionic"-beta for six months already. But 16.04 is already "pumped up" :D  distribution.

cp -f pre/ca.h /usr/include/linux/dvb
cp -f pre/ca.h /usr/src/linux-headers-4.15.0-*/include/uapi/linux/dvb

I don't really get the solution for the problem with "ca_descr-t not fund". Does it mean I should have run the script again because it had corrected the error by itself? Maybe you can explain..

Anyway, Thx alot 1455 for providing the xine-lib. With this I could get it to work on 16.04. :) :) I have two more questions at the moment.. what are the different start scripts for (e2pc.sh, enigma_pre_start.sh, enigma2.sh, autostart.sh) ?

On some channels I have like dotted or dashed lines on the screen especially when there is movement. Do you have an idea how to suppress them or adjust the display quality?

Again, thx for your help, you made my day!

Cheers

See "Enigma2PC" desktop icon in menu Audio and Video or /usr/local/e2/bin/autostart.sh.

Where is Audio and Video menu? What are the differences of the start scripts?

Where is Audio and Video menu? What are the differences of the start scripts?

sudo apt install classicmenu-indicator

or

sudo apt install cairo-dock

All start scripts are needed and run by autostart.sh.

W: I update scripts 1 and 3 for xine-lib-1.2-r13868 from hg.code.sf.net.

Ok thx. I will try analyzing autostart.sh

I crashed my installation on 16.04 and now I'm trying to build the script on a new Ubuntu 18.04 Installation. While running 3_build_libxine.sh I got an error on dpk-checkbuilddeps: unfulfilled construction dependencies: libesd0-dev

Any Ideas?

You don't need to reinstall Ubuntu every times if the installation fails. :)

You just don't have installed the necessary packages. See the beginning of the contents of script 3.
It says that if you have 18.04, then script download packages that are not present in the repositories 18.04:

wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/142636212/libesd0-dev_0.2.41-11_amd64.deb
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/142636211/libesd0_0.2.41-11_amd64.deb
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/142636259/esound-common_0.2.41-11_all.deb

Why they are not downloaded for you? There is no connection with http://launchpadlibrarian.net?
Please learn how to get full logs in a file.

Haha, I know I don't have to reinstall every time the installation fails.. :)  But I had troubles to get my TV-Stick running on 16.04. On 18.04 I had never a problem with it, that's why I wanna run it on 18.04.

But I have hard times to do it.. right now I struggeling with building xine_lib. I downloaded and installed the scripts manually but I have now other errors at step dpkg-buildpackage

I learned how to make a log-File.. ;) but I was not able to attach a file here... the end of the log says the following:

 * audio driver plugins:
   - alsa (ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture)
   - esd (Enlightened Sound Daemon)
   - Jack
   - oss (Open Sound System)

Most likely your folder /home/hubuntu/Downloads/New Release/enigma2pc-6.2(1) contains other old files! For example normal path is /usr/src/enigma2pc-6.2.
The path /home/hubuntu/Downloads/New Release/enigma2pc-6.2(1)/enigma2pc-6.2/xine-lib-1.2-1.2.9+hg-e2pc/doc/hackersguide/./hackersguide.docbook is very strange. (Double)
Move enigma2pc-6.2 to standard place /usr/src. At least because there are headers. Clean up unnecessary folders and files.

ok, thx for your advise. I thougt it doesn't matter where the installation scripts are..? So I cleaned up all unnecessary folders and files and copied enigma2pc-6.2 in /usr/src.

I could now build everything without errors, except 7_build_lirc.sh I got a package dependency error.. as far I know, this is the remote control support. Not interesting for me at the moment, since I have other problems. ;-) anyway I could start engima2 after some time trying.  :)

I have now the problem, that I cannot see encrypted channels.. here is the oscam-log after a new start and switch from a free to an encrypted channel:

I think the problem is (dvbapi) ERROR: Can't open device /dev/dvb/adapter0/ca0 (errno=2 No such file or directory)..

Do you have an idea what to do?

open terminal

go to your directory :     /enigma2pc-6.2/dvbsoftwareca/

and type : sudo insmod dvbsotwareca.ko

and check if ca0 if it is present with this command :

 ls -l  /dev/dvb/*

But I don't get why I have use the sudo command all the time

in /etc/sudoers

insert your user name (for example hubuntu) and check nopasswd on startup. Then use root terminal only.

#
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.
#
# Please consider adding local content in /etc/sudoers.d/ instead of
# directly modifying this file.
#
# See the man page for details on how to write a sudoers file.
#
Defaults    env_reset
Defaults    mail_badpass
Defaults    secure_path="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/snap/bin"

# Host alias specification

# User alias specification

# Cmnd alias specification

# User privilege specification
root    ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

# Members of the admin group may gain root privileges
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL

# Allow members of group sudo to execute any command
%sudo    ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
hubuntu    ALL=NOPASSWD: ALL
# See sudoers(5) for more information on "#include" directives:

#includedir /etc/sudoers.d

I warned that it would be hard for newbe. Please learn linux one more time.

A blog about tormenting with lirc and new kernels.

I couldn't get repeats when starting "irw" command for a long time, as it was a few years ago:

It's impossible to use "irexec" and "irsend" for e2pc since the connection of enigma2pc with xinelib is a very bottleneck. When the "irsend" command is given, video and sound are destroyed because the client constantly reconnecting.
I wrote to Alec Leamas many times, but no answer received. Probably, he is tired of answering on stupid questions.
And so, I found a solution here.
However, in version 0.10.1, these changes was applied only partially. Why? The fact is that only some old 12-bit remotes give repeats with "irw".
Well ... Now my 32-bit remote works, as in Ubuntu 14.04. That is, the cursor "runs around" again!
A patched package is called "0.10.1-0+e2pc0~18.04.0". Package is building by script 7 with the remove original version. Applies to Ubuntu 18.04LTS only. After installation, please lock this package by "Synaptic".

I added to the decoder ISO/IEC 13818-7 ADTS AAC (MPEG-2 lower bit-rate audio) in a packetized stream (provider "Xtra TV", 9.0E). Fixed crash on exit.

apt-get install libxine2-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libxine2-dev is already the newest version (1.2.9+hg-e2pc-0).
You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libxine2-dbg : Depends: libxine2 (= 1.2.9+hg-e2pc-0) but it is not going to be installed
libxine2-dev : Depends: libxine2 (= 1.2.9+hg-e2pc-0) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
