Hi Pedro,

I have a bit of an odd question:

I have a box (an ET9K) that still has OpenPli v2.1 (with UBIFS), that I need to "update" to OpenPli 4.0 soon.

Is there still a version of the backup suite available that can do a full backup of such an old openPli-version?

I mean so that I can have a fallback scenario, when the flash/update to OpenPli 4.0 should become problematic.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Pedro,

With the new lookup table there is an issue with the lookup with xp1000 models. Since both lines with xp1000 match on my model the script errors out. The sample lookuptable provided contains 2 lines with xp1000 which is an issue.

I can resolve it by removing the Octagon line and then it works (I think, it's still running but I need to leave now)

I think this is easy to fix (remove 1 line of the distributed lookup table) but if you need more info let me know.

All versions prior to 10.0 should be fine, the only problem is when you install it the installation proces needs to fetch some packages from the feed but for 2.1 the feed doesn't exist anymore.

But still you can try enclosed version.

But I'm sure the transition to Openpli 4.0 will be without problems

There is only one model xp1000 as far as I can see in the lookup table.

Which brand/model do you have?
What is the answer on the telnet command
cat /proc/stb/info/boxtype
About "the script errors out" what is the exact errormessage (if any) and please provide the logfile, it can be found in /tmp/ and the logfile is BackupSuite.log

Hi pedro!

Ive got a VU SOLO and downloaded the latest openpli 4.0 from the official website.  Everything is fine but when i have made a backup using 16.1 of your software and restore it all i get is a black screen after i reboot the reciever.  Any ideas???  I can reinstall the openpli 4.0 image and have done but again when i use youre backup tool it makes my unit black screen.

There are no errors from your tool and it says everything is created perfectly but when restoring the image it bricks the unit.  Please help :)

I can't find any reason why your back-up isn't working, the logfiles seems normal and all used parameters are as they were with prior versions.
Could you try the following:
- remove the backupsuite 16.1
- install enclosed version 15.2
- make a back-up and try to restore it

If it restores without black screens then install enclosed version 16.2 and try again

If there are other Solo owners who are willing to test it I would be grateful

Hi pedro!

Ive found the problem and managed to fix this by doing the following

I created a backup using your 15.2 then i swapped the kernel_cfe_auto.bin your tool creates for the one supplied by the latest 26th march openpli 4 image and reflashed and voila the image restores and boots and works perfect.  So it seems the problem lies in the creation of the kernel_cfe_auto.bin file by your tool and the root_cfe_auto.jffs2 file created is perfect.  If you need me to provide any info or logs i will

Cheers

Could you give me the result of the command
cat /proc/mtd
and to be sure this command
cat /proc/mtd | grep "kernel" | cut -d ":" -f 1
(just copy/paste the command in telnet
As I understand you the version 15.2 also is faulty for the solo?

Could you try in that case version 15.1 (enclosed)

Is there any VU+ Solo owner who can confirm or disprove the problems with restoring back-ups on the solo?

Is it an isolated problem or a common problem?

Again a new version

Here's a screenshot (simulated for the ET 10000 and edited) of the different steps of the Fullback-up to HDD/USB process with a valid USB-stick inserted and an image size > 110MB (sorry in German this time)

68zi86.jpg

Changed in version 16.4

Reintroduced the warnings for all Xtrends about the image size, 2 different warnings, 1 at > 110MB and 1 at > 128MB

When image size  > 110MB

When image size > 128MB

I have really no idea what this error is about. Does this error occurs every time when you make a back-up?

Could you place the BackupSuite.log here (it is in /tmp/)

Maybe one of the dev's could explain what is going on?
