As msgfmt is installed just fine, it usually means that a DEPENDS is missing or a -native package is missing. Newer OE versions are quite a bit more strict in this.

I'll bet you that if you cleanout your tmp and build from sstate-cache or scratch, you'll see the same error.

 

Recipes using locales should always inherit gettext.

It isn't that importand for the morty OE branch we're using on rc, but on pyro (and later rocko) it does matter.

    BackupSuite: need to depend on gettext-native.
    
    Otherwise the native version of msgfmt is not built nor placed in the
    sysroot for the package.
    
    Actually, this more or less obsoletes the previous commit, but it doesn't
    hurt to have it in.
