Date and time strings are managed through the locale facility of linux. We have a fakelocale wich is a stripped done lpocale version to only include date/time translations.
So if there is something wrong in the way greek date/times are displayed this may be a 'world-wide' problem, and this should be taken up with the upstream locale developers.

Yes, but what Mirakels says is that this needs to be fixed upstream, in OpenEmbedded. So it's best to create a bug report there.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

you can also test in a telnet/ssh session to your box, setting the proper locale (e.g. LANG=<the proepr greek langiuage code>) and run the date command
specifying a user defined date format like 'date +%B' to show the current month name in long format

Thank you guys for your valuable info! If I understand this well, if months are not translated in openembedded they cannot be translated independently on fakelocale for enigma2? I found out that other languages use months in genitive rather than nominative as well, it's a suprise no one noted that for enigma2 earlier (as far as I know). Is there a way openembedded can be patched or something?

It seems that problem exists in every language that has genitive representation, including hellenic. It is too old and no solution exists yet...
Here is a guy from polland tried to solve this problem using an ugly hack: https://sourceware.o...ug.cgi?id=15606
% % Initially alt_digits was supposed to hold alternative symbols for _digits_, % corresponding to %O modified conversion specification. % Although in Polish language alternate _names_ are used instead of digits. % We'll use this keyword to present a list of month names in proper form for % date. (%Om) % % This hack is dedicated for months, it won't work for other %O* modifiers % (weeks, days etc). % alt_digits "<U0030>"; % digits are starting from zero / "<U0073><U0074><U0079><U0063><U007A><U006E><U0069><U0061>";/ "<U006C><U0075><U0074><U0065><U0067><U006F>";/ "<U006D><U0061><U0072><U0063><U0061>";/ "<U006B><U0077><U0069><U0065><U0074><U006E><U0069><U0061>";/ "<U006D><U0061><U006A><U0061>";/ "<U0063><U007A><U0065><U0072><U0077><U0063><U0061>";/ "<U006C><U0069><U0070><U0063><U0061>";/ "<U0073><U0069><U0065><U0072><U0070><U006E><U0069><U0061>";/ "<U0077><U0072><U007A><U0065><U015B><U006E><U0069><U0061>";/ "<U0070><U0061><U017A><U0064><U007A><U0069><U0065><U0072><U006E><U0069><U006B><U0061>";/ "<U006C><U0069><U0073><U0074><U006F><U0070><U0061><U0064><U0061>";/ "<U0067><U0072><U0075><U0064><U006E><U0069><U0061>"Here is another one: https://sourceware.o...ug.cgi?id=10871
Also here: http://austingroupbu...view.php?id=258
I guess locale should include something like alt_mon where genitive form will be available there for languages need that.

Essentially, the use of months in dates in Greek is only in genitive, so a simple change of the unicode strings would solve the problem in a way. I'm pretty sure this is the case in some linux distros I've seen with the dates in greek translated correctly and android. However I fully agree that there should be a choice as well, with the %B variable dedicated to the genitive form in languages that use it for months and another variable in nominative for any other possible use!
But, in enigma2 I haven't seen the variables used in any other instance than the date representation, so a simple change in translation would do.
I wish I knew how to patch oe, since athoik and I got the Greek e2 translation fully done, it looks so ugly to have the months displayed incorrectly!
I already posted how the strings should be changed
mon "<U0399><U03B1><U03BD><U03BF><U03C5><U03B1><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U03A6><U03B5><U03B2><U03C1><U03BF><U03C5><U03B1><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U039C><U03B1><U03C1><U03C4><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U0391><U03C0><U03C1><U03B9><U03BB><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U039C><U03B1><U0390><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U0399><U03BF><U03C5><U03BD><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U0399><U03BF><U03C5><U03BB><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U0391><U03C5><U03B3><U03BF><U03CD><U03C3><U03C4><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U03A3><U03B5><U03C0><U03C4><U03B5><U03BC><U03B2><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U039F><U03BA><U03C4><U03C9><U03B2><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U039D><U03BF><U03C5><U03BC><U03B2><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>";/ "<U0394><U03B5><U03BA><U03B5><U03BC><U03B2><U03C1><U03AF><U03BF><U03C5>"

I see that it is added new translations. But what is wrong in # 733, # 730?
I know that the translation is not the primary of the image, but perhaps it is possible to define some timeline when add translations?
For example, the translations are added to a specific day of the month, or a specific day of every 2, 3, 4... month.
That's, what I now see in this topic, is that people add their own translations, then they update, correct, but openpli not responding. And then people do not offer it anymore, because if it is not required, they do not see a reason to do so.
What is openpli position?
