2) please try to avoid wrapping long lines in the output.
    We generate all .po files with "--no-wrap" options. I assume the tool you use to do the translations should have a similar setting...

Probably this is Poedit issue. Next time i will be more careful.
It seems under Windows it changes the lines from long lines to maximum 80 long lines ... This should be fixed properly (I'm using version 1.5.5) and there should be an option to set it to
- use long lines or
- use lines of defined length or
- keep as in source

http://www.poedit.net/trac/ticket/25
Regarding the Audio Sync screen can you point me to the .po files need translation?

Maybe because that text come from the audiosync plugin itself?

Maybe because that text come from the audiosync plugin itself?

So we need to append those on Enigma2 po files (in German translation this already happened).

Attached File  0001-Add-extra-strings-for-Greek-language.patch.txt   1.26KB   8 downloads

The above patch adds the following strings.
msgid "dreambox advanced remote control (native)"
msgid "dreambox front panel"
msgid "dreambox ir keyboard"
msgid "dreambox ir mouse"
msgid "dreambox remote control (native)"
msgid "Audio Sync"
msgid "Choose your Skin"
msgid "Choose Tuner"
msgid "Network configuration..."
Later i will create patch for networkbrowser also (currently there is no string translated!).

Thanks

You shouldn't just add messages to pofiles.
Instead, the gettext parser (or the sourcecode) should be fixed.

Instead, the gettext parser (or the sourcecode) should be fixed.

The problem is on the sourcecode (plugin.py), another member from satdreamgr team point me to the following:
import gettext
try:
    cat = gettext.translation("AudioSync", "/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/AudioSync/locale", [config.osd.language.getText()])
    _ = cat.gettext
except IOError:
    pass
When you add this, the Audio Sync is translated!

Is this ok? Proceed with a patch?

I think plugins in the e2 repository should use the e2 catalogs.
Only external plugins need their own.

Them maybe we are missing this?

that's the runtime part.
I thought the problem was the gettext string extraction? (messages not ending up in the po files)

No the problem was the missing _ from plugin.py after all.

Please also commit this 0001-Add-Greek-Translation-in-AudioSync.patch.txt

Or use this combined patch.

Yes the "from __init__ import _ " is ok. But it may be 'missing' in other .py files to.

Applied your combined patch (after removing unneeded white space)

Hi,

here the patch for new german de.po-file:

- reformatted without wrapping

- some minor corrections

- includes commit c74f170af5263d5d9ef21315d88c944f8be81f75

Info:

Using latest Windows version of POEdit (1.5.7) you get wrapped lines (max length 80 characters). To get a po-file without wrapped lines you can create a new po-file with the 'msgcat.exe' which you can find in the program folder of POEdit.

Just open a DOS-window and type

msgcat --width=0 -o new_po_file.po old_po_file.po

wherein 'old_po_file.po' should be the name of your original wrapped po-file and 'new_po_file.po' the name of the new po-file without wrapped lines.
