regarding LG tv - 'standby is not supported by TVs' means exactly that tv does not react to the standby command from other devices (w/ libcec), but it sends standby command fine;
have lg plasma myself, and had to get used to this unfortunately...
the only solution that I found on the net was 'wait for the next lg firmware for your tv, maybe this /simplink/ issue would be fixed' ;)

(unless you'll tell me that on vti that's not the issue?)

@Niceguy,
...and concerning your sets with samsung tv's - possibly silly question:
do you have hdmi-cec enabled (anynet+?) on the tv side?
(no idea if it's enabled by default or not, never had samsung tv...)

LG's have a propriatary extension to CEC called "SimpLink". People report that you need to switch this off to get HDMI-CEC to work.

I find it all a bit voodoo. I have an entire stack of boxes which I connect to the same Panasonic TX-P50VT50 using the same cable. All boxes have the same config. All CEC functions work fine with the XP1000, none of them work with an ET10000...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

@NiceGuy: it's far too easy to blame OpenPLi. HDMI-CEC is notorious for incompatibilities, surely not only between OpenPLi and hardware, but just as well between hardware devices themselves. I even have the opinion that you're barking up the wrong tree and it's the TV manufacturers that fail to comply with standards. Which is logical because adhering to standards is never advantagious for your business, better keep everything closed so customers have no choice then buy everything from your company.

@IMS

My Post was not meant to hurt or put blame on someone. It was challeging for reasons explained above...

So about the combinations I have tried to list the problems in my initial post:

VU+DUO + LG 60BP5600 > only switching the Screen on together with the VU+ through the VU+ remote works, switching off does not work.

VU+ SOLO + Samsung 32UE 5500 > HDMI CEC does not work at all.

Maxdigital XP1000 + Samsung PS43E450A1W HDMI CEC Does not work at all. (2 sets)

I have changed the Delay to 250 ms and still no response, neither switching on nor switching off as a result of the PLI box switching on and off has any result.

How can I help to debug this issue? I would love to get the Maxdigitals to work with the Samsungs..

about LG I wroted it and BLZR too ...

About Samsung - you can try change in .../Components/HdmiCec.py line:

for i in (10, 50, 100, 150, 250):

to

for i in (10, 50, 100, 150, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000):

and try higher delay. Somebody used 4000 and it worked (but 4s delay is nothing normal for comunication...)

ond one important note - one wrong device pluged into HDMI can brocke whole CEC !

F.eg. Emtec M200 pluged into TV and CEC is down for all devices ... similar, as would be pin 13 grounded.

I am conserned about the same behavior.

With my purchase of a new Apple TV I discovered that im my case (DM7020 HD + Sony TV) the same behavior.

What doesn't work:
- Switch TV to correct HDMI input

Normally my dreambox is connected to the Sony HDMI 1 TV input. I connected the new Apple TV to HDMI 4. When I turn on the Apple TV, then remains the last HDMI 4 active, also, when I turn it off, it close the TV, but this input somehow remines as last active input. Now when I turn on my dreambox, it switches the TV on, but the active input is wrong- the last one, that had active, it means HDMI 4. I need in order to select from TV remote the input -> HDMI 1, to get the TV connected with dreambox Video output. When I had done that for the third day, then I realized, that it is a wrong behavior of my dreambox. I read through this topic.

It means the same thing, that here are a lot of marked happens with me. Whether it can also depend on the model of the TV?
I checked that the same thing does not happen when I turn on my blue ray player, which is connected to the HDMI 3 (Then the TV input also turns around, as needed from the HDMI 4 to the HDMI 3).
Can I help you, it's time to correct it for enigma2?

In fact, I do not understand, what are you implying? This thing does not work, but it could be!
On my TV BRAVIA Sync is set ON, MHL is set ON.
I have dreambox set so as you can see on the attached screenshot, there does not give anything more to set up. These input automatic selection for the dreambox will not work. Where to start?

Hi,

You need to play around with all the possible options and find the one that match between your STB and your equipment.

For exemple, in one TV Brand if I enable (like you do) switch TV to the right entry doesn't behave like expected instead of zapping to the right HDMI entry it zap to the internal tuner channel number (exemple HDMI 4 the TV zap to channel 4 which is not the expected behavior).
So I need to play around and find the best matching option
Another exemple I went through an amplifier and I need to set the option to display logo to have all the HDMI wake up and shutdown working as expected.

So enabling everything and thinking that it will work like describe on the screen is not always right.

Moreover I also find that sometimes it is good to unplug/replug the HDMI cable when switching option.

I guess that you should start with a minimal setup (for exemple disable use TV remote, etc...) and enable other options when the very basic ones are already working like you expect it should.

Let me ask whether anyone else this thing works correctly? I have everything else OK, except the TV input selection, if the last was active anything else (HDMI 4 in my example).

It was never OK, but so far it never bothered me too until now.

As I can see, the Hdmi-CEC setup is presented in two files:

1)in folder
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/HdmiCEC
in file plugin.py

and

2)in folder
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components
in file HdmiCec.py

I checked my TV and cables over and these are all fine.

As well is going corectly the granting of the CEC addresses.
I tried that when my dreambox is connected to HDMI1 it gets current CEC address: 1.0.0.0
When I changed the TV input HDMI 1, for example I placed my box instead to HDMI 3, then in accordance changed the current CEC address to 3.0.0.0
or
I changed an put it instead to HDMI 4, then in accordance changed the current CEC address to 4.0.0.0
(after the box restart of course changed the CEC address correct).
Thus half of it works. What does not work, is the TV input switching over, if the last active was something else than this input, where the box is connected.
I think the error is somewhere in the python program in the file /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/HdmiCec.py
Smarters could come here to help me, I can try out your suggestions.

I get it finally working just with the correct setup!
With setting 'Minimum send interval' to 100 ms it finally works for me!
Without changing anything in the program!!!
With 50 ms it wont work for me, but it works also with 150 ms and 250 ms.
100 ms is best for me (the fastest reaction, which works OK).
I apologize for my stupidity, here the thing is now all right.

It has nothing to do with "stupidity" but with broken implementations, just like I have been trying to explain all of the time.
