Hey guys,

do other STBs (other than et9x00) have the same problem?
Please report which STBs have problems with not properly working rewinding (with rewind key) while watching live tv when timeshift is enabled.

Hi, I will report back later if VU+ Uno is affected as well. But I already have a feeling that this will be the case.
I have seen a lot of this wait for driver eof timeout messages while I was trying to troubleshoot the "unpausing" issue (posted in this thread on page 3). Just to make sure: by rewinding you mean << button on a remote and the speed should not make a difference here?

I have to report, that I don't have problems with Vu+ duo and vu+ solo2.
(Last update yesterday)

Its just not nice, that the rewind doesn't start immediately but instead pauses for a few seconds before. But I understand that this is "normal" for enigma2

Nice to hear some positive stuff concerning PLi and VU+.
Thanks for your information.

@greatred: Start timeshift. Switch back to live tv. Wait some seconds and press << button on remote. Try it 3-5 times.
Do rewind work all the time (I mean fast rewind runs and it don't immediately switch back to live tv)?

Here is the promised update from a VU+ Uno with internal HDD as a timeshift medium:

Timeshift activated for about 18 minutes.
Unpausing
fast forwarding with various speeds to reach the live tv point
rewinding: the initial x2 speed is behaving normally, although I`m not able to rewind with bigger speed. It is always x2. Any additional press on the << button results in | | sign and then again it is rewinding with x2 speed.
(I can observe some picture artifacts during the rewinding.)

Please tell me if you need an enigma log.

Thanks for the test! I don't need a log. And well, I can seek back with x4 (it starts with x2).

Is there somebody with a dreambox or XP1000 who can also test?

It looks I am able to only rewind with initial speed. So if a change the rewind initial speed to x4 it works, but increasing the speed is not possible.

on XP1000 I cannot rewind more than 2x. When I try press << again, I get || and then << 2x. When I want 4x, I must set 4x as speed in setup . But then is same behavior for 4x - speed is not increased too.

For >> : in most cases for >> 2x nothing happens, still real playback, randomize is accelerate for several secs and then real playback again, again accelerate etc.... Similar on 4x, 8x. On speed >> 16x it seems, then it is real 16x. But it can be in less power of this box.

With my et9200 I can increase speed from 2x to 4x by pressing rewind key a second time. But if it's really quicker I don't know.

@IMS: You have a XP1000. Could you please test whether rewind from live tv to timeshift (http://openpli.org/f...post__p__334156) works? It only takes a minute or two.

btw, you should not draw conclusions based on just a few attempts.
I can rewind from the live point fine in at least 80% of the attempts.
It only fails in a very few cases.

I think it's more often. But I didn't keep record ;)
So please test at least 10 to 15 times. It also takes only a few minutes.

I have applied http://openpli.org/f...786#entry333786

After several trying with go to real <-> rewind i got once black screen. I have little problem go to live, because >> 2x,4x 8x in most cases works wrong... Time is not changed and is still real speed, only time to time is skipped. When it works and I want from >> 8x go to >> 4x with rew (as it is in movie playback) I got || and << 2x. Do not know, if there it is possible. I am using timeshift for pause/play only.

You're right. The patch makes it very difficult to switch back to live tv. So it breaks a well functioning function(sorry for the bad English). Can you test it again without the patch? Thanks!

TypeError: stopTimeshift() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)

The orriginal stopTimeshift function can take 1 or 2 arguments.... Strange... do you have some plugins installed that steals functions?

I'm scared you get some incorrect code....

That does happen when plugins steals functions from orriginal... :( You cannot adapt the orriginal code... I can make the orriginal code a bit more complicated again to fix it..
What should we adapt now PTS or E2? :(

Below a suggested patch for PTS... that is what I prefer...

-def stopTimeshift(self):
+def stopTimeshift(self, answer = True):
  if not self.timeshift_enabled:
   return 0
  # Jump Back to Live TV
  if config.plugins.pts.enabled.value and self.timeshift_enabled:
   if self.isSeekable():
	self.pts_switchtolive = True
	self.ptsSetNextPlaybackFile("")
	self.setSeekState(self.SEEK_STATE_PAUSE)
	if self.seekstate != self.SEEK_STATE_PLAY:
		 self.setSeekState(self.SEEK_STATE_PLAY)
	self.doSeek(-1) # seek 1 gop before end
	self.seekFwd() # seekFwd to switch to live TV
	return 1
   return 0
-  InfoBarOrg.stopTimeshift(self)
+  InfoBarOrg.stopTimeshift(self, answer)

This is also the reason why I mentioned that PTS could currently better steal the checkTimeshiftRunning function to arrange al timeshift stops.
