Something else I noted: if you have used pause or rewind and then start moving forward and backward with <<, >>, 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8 everything is fine, BUT if you press < to move to the previous event (like with the permanenttimeshift plugin), the system switches to the previously selected channel, WITHOUT WARNING DIALOG. I would expect the keys < and > to jump either to the previous resp. next event, of - if this is not possible - to jump to the beginning resp. end of the timeshift. In any case, the channel should not be switched without warning if the timeshift is/has been active... It would be nice if this can be fixed in a future version...

@almero: Yes, you're right. I already recognized it several weeks ago. I take a look at it later...

Regarding timeline: After a longer search, I'm now able to show the timeline while timeshift is enabled (see screenshot). Unfortunately I have to change it in the skin. So every skin needs to be adapted. Here is a patch to change the standard PLi-Hd skin from littlesat.

@littlesat: Are you willing to apply the patch?

I find it quite nice to see how big the buffer is where the current position in the buffer is. You can also see the automatically generated marks. Currently you cannot seek to these marks, but it's not difficult to implement (I already have implemented it some time ago ;) ).

Hi,

Would be really nice if we can have a "real broadcast time" timeline.

I mean instead of displaying 0:00:0 as starting time having the real time when we start the timeshift:  example:  20:30:00

At cursor position display the time it was in the "real life" started let says we are now at 22H30, if I have started my playback since 15 minutes so the cursor position is 20:45 and the end of the timeline is the current time.

This sounds more natural to me to have a timeline displaying the "real broadcast time" because you have them a clear view where you are in your timeshift.

20H30 ---------20H45-----------------------------------------22H30

Or having the possibility to have this view as an option.

I'm really no skin expert. The easiest way was to use the normal movieplayer timeline.
Lets wait what littlesat says to it. I hope he likes the idea and then he/we can perhaps adapt the timeline.

Littlesat has committed my patch without changes. So currently no real broadcast times. Should be available tomorrow via update.
After my holiday I perhaps take a look at it.

Hi,

Thanks to have committed the patch but I just upgrade my box to see the result but when pressing the "pause" button I saw 0 (unknow key) display.

So timeshift is no longer working  (Openpli 3).

The patch is only a skin patch... so it should not change functionality of timeshift itself...

Hi,

I perform the update on my OpenPli 4 box and there it is working fine, but one remark before the timeline we saw the fast forward (rewind) speed that we use, now we no longer saw it.

Is it possible to display the fast forward, fast rewind speed like before?

Thanks,

Pr2

Hi,

Openpli 3 timeshift is still working my HDD was full (would be nice to see a proper message when this happens) :D

But it seems that the timeline is only commited in Openpli 4 and not in Openpli 3.

There was no 3.0 build for most receivers last night.

Last version is 2013-09-11.

With this patch the user can use the previous/next keys (also used for channel history) to seek to marks in timeshift buffer.

  • This don't solves the problem that at live point the previous/next keys switch channel without showing the timeshift checkbox.
  • If I seek with next key near live point, I get sometimes on my et9200 sound problems. This is "normal". We should avoid seeking into interval [live point - 1 second, live point]. There was some weeks ago a try to inhibit that (it was suggested for running recordings).

Hi,

Do you find a way to display back the fast forward/rewind speed currently used (2X, 4X, 8X, 12X, ....)?

Thanks,

Hi Pr2,

I think it's not very difficult, but I'm on holiday for a week. So it have to wait at least until next weekend. Or perhaps littlesat have some time...

And regarding the timeshift marks I also need to look at it a second time. Sometimes not all marks are stored when you save a timeshift file.

Ok, here's the patch to display the timeshift state(pause, play, fast forward,...) again for the PLiHD skin. It was accidently removed by my other patch.

@littlesat: Can you please take a look at it and commit it?
