As stated in my post "... create a working nfi on the Dreambox". These were MIPs binaries to be run on the Dreambox. My x64 PC versions create a broken (unbootable) image (as stated previously), I only built working images successfully on the Dreambox, using the posted files. Although it "should have" worked on my PC, it did not...

like Hemi said smth is not playing nice on Ubuntu either nfidump, buildimage, or mkfs.jffs2...

Which is indeed strange course compiling Pli builds in ubuntu is possible and they have to be build also.

Look - if you are not understanding a simple principle discovered 70 years ago to identify the root cause of a problem with only 3 items and 2 setups then maybe the Maya calender is the easier challenge.

I tried Shainin's policy of "talking to the parts" same result probaly due my lack of magnifying skills by the square-root-of-the-sum-of-the-squares law

No, you did NOT talk to the parts - the relevant principle which was invented in the 40 of the previous century is this one:

In order to determine the "Red X," Shainin would swap pairs of parts between functional and faulty equipment until the one part responsible for the failure is discovered

If you are too dumb to apply such a simple rule it is NOT gutemine's fault that you always loose with the shells.

Im pretty sure ruling out/swapping faulty parts between functional parts to determine the cause of a problem was no invention of Mr.Shainin but more common sense people are using for ages, he just did document it because of the summergap in the 40's some peeps did suffer from..

We allready know that making a build works on the dream and not on a linux pc using the same 3 tools where 1 is actually different in architecture then on the dream (nfidump) so it dont play nice.

And cryptic hints which only YOU understand e.g. see the hint in dont help much either, called people dumb dito where did we see this before calling people dumb and the numours cryptic messages who till today only YOU did understand ..??

Im pretty good with the shells :P and in that time i did only now gutemine as the fat lady girl from the chief of that french fish swapping village let alone i should blame her :)

And yes we know that everything works for gutemine why are we talking about him if he's some 3th person dude, its YOU.! lol

This guy built a Multi Million $$$ company out of a maybe simple idea - like finding the root cause of a problem. But the idea might be old, making it work even for the most complex problems is not something to disgrace.

Google is also only built around a very simple idea - let's search the Internet, or Facbook around - let's share some photos and text and like it.

Anyway, you are free to asume that gutemine has built something strange into nfidump - I only pointed you on how to get either proof for this assumption, or realize that it is wrong, but if you are not taking my advice this is OK with me.

Regarding offense - you know there is something called defense too.

Well, this ignorance is the reason why I called you dumb - because the advice is a pretty simple one as you actually replied yourself.

But maybe you need a practical example for illustration why you are simply too dumb to take such a simple advice:

buildimage makes out of 3 files 1.

It is very easy to take the 3 files you have produced on the Dreambox and transfer them to the PC and use buildimage there to make the nfi image out of it.

if the Result is still booting - guess who is NOT getting the Red X ?
