Hi,

I have an ET6000 with openpli 3.0 installed before 15/12/2012 (without glib 2.0 downgrade) but updated regularly.

I was trying to play back some mkv's in 1080P.
They start well for 20-30 minutes but then they start to slow down, then freeze and then enigma2 restarts.

In dmesg it says out of memory process enigma2 has been selected for killing.

I have tried installing plugin free cache and adding swap but this has just extended the playing time for 5-10 minutes. When enigma2 reaches around 600mb then console freezes and it works again after enigma2 has been killed by os.

Anyway to reduce memory usage by enigma2 or any other solution ?

Do you have soms crashlogs...dmesg logs?

Regards the gstreamer fixes you should reflash.... Opkg or ipkg Cannot downgrade

if it grows to 600MB, it's a memory leak (most likely in one of the gstreamer elements, or perhaps in e2's servicemp3)

no, that won't cause e2 to 'use' 600+ MB

FYI

I reflashed my ET6000 so that i have the old gstreamer.
I have the same issue, enigma2 reaches 600+ Mb and then is selected by os to be killed as no memory was left.

At least now i can stop the movie, restart enigma2, and then resume movie playback. That's already a good workaround for me.

This happens just with 1080p movies and not with 720p, and it takes at least 40 minutes of viewing before crash.

Can this fix in gstreamer - open dreambox be applied also in openpli 3 - gstreamer ? Or are the gstreamers too different now ?

The file mkv or a part of it is too big to upload.
