I bought and connected a usb tuner (Hauppague PCTV Nanostick 290e) to my Dreambox 8000, to recieve DVB-T2 in Sweden. The local DVB-T/T2 operator (Boxer) broadcasts SD Mpeg2 and h264 via DVB-T and HD h264 via DVB-T2.

The mpeg2 channels can be accessed via smartcard and softcam, but to access the h264 channels a phyisical cam module is required (due to some kind of added encryption or whatever).

After a restart, and setting tuner E as the default tuner, I could access FTA channels on DVB-T2. However, the physical cam module does not decrypt any channels at all when using the usb tuner. Also, only FTA DVB-T channels work properly. DVB-T2 FTA channels break up like what they do when the reception is bad.

Softcam works for usb tuners without problems (but then I cant access the encrypted h264 channels that I also pay for).

/var/log/messages from FTA DVB-T channel using usb tuner and with cam connected (works)

Hmmm, I doubt very much whether you can actually can pull an encrypted transport stream from an USB tuner through a CI module...

I think the dm8000 (hardware) is not able to route internal TS data through a CI.

Thanks for the quick replies!

That the CA modules might be directly connected to the ordinary (non-usb) tuners in hardware, and thus not having any software entry, sounds plausable. Why would the transport stream be routed through software when it can be done in hardware... I'll try to verify that somehow... or might it perhaps be possible to check by just looking at the Linux DVB stuff?

No, TS routing is not done by linux dvb drivers.
And, as you already noted, it's a hardware thing, no software. So no workarounds, unfortunately.
