I've reported a bug to VU+ regarding HE-AAC passthrough not working (I checked the latest vuplus image, and that has the same problem) - hopefully they will look at it...
Just FYI, I have re-reported this problem to vu+, this time with a bit more detail:
I have recently reported that multichannel HE-AAC audio tracks are not correctly handled by vu+ - they are always down mixed to stereo. I have now found the relevant standard for my area (scandinavia) where DVB-T is heavily used, and it can be found here: http://www.nordig.org/pdf/NorDig-Unified_ver_2.4.pdf Specifically the audio requirements are in section 6.2.2 for E-AC-3 and 6.2.3 for HE-AAC. In my case the 6.2.3 HE-AAC requirement are most urgent - specifically:
NorDig IRDs supporting HE-AAC (and thereby also AAC-LC) shall be capable of: [...] • transcoding HE-AAC Version 1 at Level 4 (multi-channel, up to 5.1) at sampling rates of 48 kHz according to TS 101 154 [29], Annex H to AC-3 or DTS.
Could you please implement the above requirement, thanks :-)
Obviously I hope they will implement it, and if they do, I will probably be back, since I guess some adaptation will need to happen in openpli as well.
