The latest state is that I don't have time to work on this for the coming weeks/months. The good news is that I will try to get the workaround-solution working in the next few days. I am not sure whether the openwebif will need adjustments for that.

When you want to start transcoded streams via the webinterface it needs an option to play via port 8002 instead of 8001... Just a configuration to change that port on the webinterface should be enough...

I suggest it should be better that the APPs that stream remotely use that correct port...

The VU-player for Android indeed has the option to accept transcoded streaming (hence use port 8002).

Nevertheless: the web-if should also allow for both normal streaming (via 8001) and transcoded streaming (via 8002).

But apparently that has been done by applying the VU-patch (https://github.com/E...d9cde427cdf12d7).

Hello Erik,

I don't want to rush you or anything like that but have you perhaps had time to look into that?

If so, will it work both on 3.0 and 4.0 ?

I have been stuck last week on a problem with building the package on our build server. There is something very misty going on.

Yes much news, little progression.

Due to limited disk space, I had to clean out my openpli-3 build enviroment. This means there won't a solution for openpli-3, I am working on openpli-4 now.

But... the setup of the openpli-4 build environment had some "issues" as well. I had it working last saturday and now it's broken again...

So... yes indeed I am working on it, but there is little progress yet.

I don't understand what is the issue. transcoding works fine on OpenPLI 3.0, both packages are on the feed

http://downloads.pli...-r1_vusolo2.ipk

edit: even openwebif has the two stream icons, for both normal and transcoded streaming. What is missing?

The problem is the missing dependency. You don't want to know what a job it has been to simply have a working building environment to check that... Also the move from cvs to git for streamproxy didn't help (it messed up the versioning system).

OK, missing dependency is something that needs to be fixed for ease of use, but for anyone who wants to use it right now, installing from telnet is not a big problem.

Also I am not sure whether it works with the webif (maybe wrong port number), I want to sort that out as well.

vlc doesn't play the m3u generated for port 8002, because it contains a program information which needs to be ommitted in the transcoded stream.

For example:

EXTM3U
#EXTVLCOPT--http-reconnect=true
#EXTVLCOPT:program=13840

vlc can't play this m3u file. If you remove the #EXTVLCOPT:program=13840 , then it plays OK.

The above plugin works fine on Vu solo2 with openpli4 but only port 8002 for transcoding.

8001 is still not working for some reason but doesn't bother me.

Thank you very much uploading these files.

Hi,

It really bothers me that VLC cannot play transcoded stream on 8002.

If you are saying that this is the cause, who can "repair" it? Do you think it needs deep changes to some streaming routines?

Small patch in openwebif and it would be OK.

Hi dim_dim,

So you installed these 2 IPK files and transcoding works just fine? Do you get the additional TV icon in OpenWebif? If so, how did it appear?

But regular streaming using port 8001 does not work?

malakudi, can you confirm that?

Both icons for 8001 and 8002 were on the webif from the first time of flashing and both could download the m3u file! After these ipk files i was able to stream through 8002 video and audio while just audio through 8001. I made tests on potplayer!

8001 streaming works fine for me with VLC. 8002 doesn't work automaticallly, you first have to edit the stream.m3u to remove the line mentioned above.
