Dreambox drivers have now been updated to inlcude DD+ support. This support is now in the offical Dream experimental images.
dreambox-dvb-modules: updated dm500hd, dm500hdv2, dm800se, dm800sev2, dm7020hd hardware drivers
- updated audio core
- added DDP aka AC3+ support
Hopefully OpenPLi will be able do the necessary in order to add DD+ support to the OpenPLi images for the Dreamboxes

But... there aren't any new drivers for the 800HD ??? ... DM has forgotten ?? ...hmmm This is just another crappy support from DM to us...
I guess this is a lesson for all of us to learn not to buy more DM machines!
DM800HD PVR was declared End Of Live since a year or so. There will never be written any kind of driver update for that box.
For that sole reason I bought me a XP1000 box and promised myself to never ever buy a piece of hardware of their brand again.

no as the chipsets are different: dm800hd pvr = BCM7401, dm800hd se = BCM7405
And all drivers are closed source. Perhaps some expert is able to code its own driver from scratch but that's very unlikely to happen.

The dm800hd has been declared "end of life" several years ago. The dm8000 has experienced that fate only a year ago (and that's why there are no new drivers for that one too).
But the be honest, a receiver that is over five years old and that cheap, no single manufacturer will support a product that long, that's just not reasonable to expect.

Maybe I can understand that the 800HD is 5 years old... BUT what about the high end machine 8000HD ? ...
DM is actually the WORST brand for sat receivers, in all aspects !
And that's the reason they are loosing sales for others.

I see that AC3+ is only supported on Openpli 4.0 image on 7020HD. The 3.0 one hasn't been updated.
But there is a bug.
I can only hear AC3+ if I previously switch to an AC3 audio track. Then I switch to AC3+ track and I can hear it too.
Here in Barcelona there is a terrestrial TV station that has 3 audio tracks, the main one is AC3+, the second one is AC3, and the 3rd. one is MPEG.
I can only hear the AC3+ if I previously switch to the AC3 one,
I use analog audio outputs.
On the original image dreambox-image-dm7020hd-20130927.nfi , audios works fine.

Euuhhhh? The DM8000 is (was) a cheap box and 'end-of-live' is reasonable?

Apart from the fact that the 8000 was far from cheap (it was the most expensive E2-STB ever build); what could be the relation between 'cheap' and an early end-of-live declaration? IMHO that says more about the company then about the (price of) the box.

Hi SatKiekerd,
he meant the 800 with cheap and for DMM the €300 were cheap. The 8K is a different matter.
Beside this the support from DMM was and for what I read is very good. Support does not necessarily mean further develop the software because you knew what you get and nobody promised fantastic new things. Support also means hardware and this still works.
ciao

It's perfectly normal, see smartphones. No-name low-end phones won't ship with the latest android and won't get any updates, simple as that. Continuous support from the manufacturer is contained in the price.I was only flabbergasted by the suggested relation between STB-price and duration of support.
But besides that, there really is a limit on how long a manufacturer is willing to support hardware, that is the harsh reality. It began selling in 2008. If someone bought it in 2010 (when it was almost end-of-life), that's plain silly or cheap.

Yep, you explained perfectly well that the most expensive E2-STB ever was cheap enough to warrant no more updates by now.

Hmmm, pretty sure you talked about the 800 & 8000:I am still talking about the dm800, like I was before.
But OK, let's go on topic again. And we agree on the fact that there comes an end to every support (cheap box or not).
