Hello all,
With the recent announcement that OpenPLI will stop support for Dreambox, I am considering replacing my DM8000 by a VU+ Duo2. I used to use the Newnigma image and moved to OpenPLI this summer when Newnigma 4.0 came out. This image was twice the size of OpenPLI and had very infrequent updates as they were based on DMM which is a crappy image.
I was also never impressed by the quality of the DM8000 video. I used to have a Topfield receiver and I saw a big difference, especially with HD channels, when I replaced it with the DM (the Topfield was broken)
Questions:
1. How is the image (video) quality on the VU+ Duo? Better or worse than DM8000?
2. Can I re-use the soft CAM binaries from my DM on the VU+? I would suspect so as it is also a MIPS CPU
3. Has anyone else done such a move (from DM to VU+) and if so, what is your experience?
4. I see the VU+ Duo can only run the OpenPLI v4 image but I am running the v3 image on my DM. Is v4 as stable as v3?
5. I also see from the VU+ Web site that they have their own image with support for Dual Display. What is it based on? This Dual Display feature seems interesting is it possible with OpenPLI?
6. Any comments/suggestions?
Thank you
