As it looks from what you tell here, it's actually something of CrossEPG. I don't use that (3rd parties...) and I don't have this problem.

I don't know why people talking always about cross EPG. I don't have this installed, so i am sure it's has nothing to do with crossEPG. I have used epg-refresh for a while. And this forces this bug (because it wake up very night and shutdown every night). But now i have disabled any epg things and i still have this issue. I shutdown my box every evening. And this bug occurs, lets say every 10th shutdown.

But if you don't have this bug erik, then it must be something else!

I try to reflash the box and maybe i can find the real "problem" (NAS-Connection, softcam...).

For me this bug is only present after the first try to restart/shudown after downloading epg. If I don't manually (I have auto update disabled) openepg, I can restart/shutdown stb normally.

It only started a few months ago and never did this before when using the exact same EPG data and RAM

True, this problem starts a few months ago (think in december, maybe january not sure). My main problem is that it happens only every 10th shutdown (sometimes every 15th or 20th shutdown). So it is very hard so simulate, and even harder to find the source of this problem.

Why do all these users collect all these epg shich they actualy never really use but eatens ram???

My provider send only limitted epg data (2 days). So if you like to set a recording which is more then 2 days, then you have a problem.

But i am sure this shutdown problem has nothing todo with epg.

Yes, but for me just happens at first restart/shutdown after updating/downloading openepg, not like you say at every 10th shutdown or so. After force interface restart via telnet and then if I don't update openepg again I can restart/reboot/shutdown normally, and I still have epg in all channels because I do an epg reload to load epg data that I've downloaded before.

 

To download/update and reload epg I use Crossepg of course, I don't think that there's another way of downloading openepg.

The box is still pingable, but ssh login is not possible. Ah, may be we can put the shutdown of the ssh server more later? So if this happen i can login via ssh and read the log.

How is it not possible. Is the connection refused or is there no answer. Connection refused means the ssh server is no longer listening, no answer means the receiver is probably busy crashing.

I know may be crossepg's fault, but like I said before, for me downloading epg from sat (openepg) is much better than downloading it form internet...

 When my box have that problem, busy icon and frozen forever when trying to restart/shutdown, telnet works, so I can issue commands. Actually never tried ssh... but I think it will work. Maybe not the same problem after all!

 

I'm not sure but I think when stb performs an auto shutdown it works normally. What I mean is, I have sleeptimer set to switch to deepstandby when in standby after 15 minutes in the timeframe 00:00 --- 08.00

Most of times I leave it recording stuff after midnight and in the morning it's in deepstandby. But I need to test this better...

Yep, as I suspected.

-Downloaded openepg

-Switched stb to standby

-Waited, after the time that is set in sleeeptimer menu, stb switches to deepstandby normally.

 

So, auto shutdown works normally, but not when done manually by remote control.

Cross is the only way to get Open-TV data, and it works well: I use it all the time, for years now.

But: it uses a lot of RAM, and especially on older boxes the use of a swap-file is really needed to let Cross work properly.

Ok, so i think we are talking about 2 different problems. If i remember correctly i get a "connection refused", but i test it when it happend next time.

Ha, posted this, shutdown my box and it hangs.

Box is still pingable:

But ssh is not working:

ssh: connect to host 192.168.0.20 port 22: Connection refused

 

And telnet:

Trying 192.168.0.20...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

 

Edit: Webif is also not working.

 

On the box it self it shows the VU logo:
