Hello,

Firstly i would like to thank the OPENPLI Team fo having maintained all those years a very good image for DM800HD, even if DMM have chosen to forget us (they do not produce image for dm800 now)... It's  a real relief to know Openpli still developing image for us (even if we would like to have also Openpli 4.0 :)) - I'm using PLI on all my Dreamboxes (2xDM500 and DM800HD) Pli Jade 2 on my DM500 since 5 years...

And i created this topic, because i don't know which version of oscam i should install on my DM800HD with OpenPLI latest version ...

The Oscam version i downloaded from OpenPLI servers work well, but i would like to update it with latest version i will found here :

http://download.osca...tory=1.20_TRUNK

Should i use :

mips-tuxbox-oe1.6

Or :

dreambox_fpu

Or :

mips-tuxbox-oe2.0

Is Openpli OE 2.0 or OE 1.6 ?

I'm using actually this version of OpenPLI : OpenPLi-2.1-beta-dm800-20140209.zip

Thanks in advance

Cedric

I use this one on a DM8000, without problems: oscam-svn9523-dreambox_fpu-webif-libusb-ssl-Distribution.tar.gz oscam-svn9523-dreambox fpu-webif-libusb-ssl-Distribution Not sure this Works with the DM800HD, but if you back-up the current you can always revert.

@Cedric - use MIPSEL ( OE1.6 ) for dm800 - also would recommend to use gorgone's simplebuild :  wget ss4200.homelinux.com/oscam/simplebuild , just to make your life easier

@ dolphs whatis simplebuild ? i have never heard of it ...

@mrbeam, it's the Oscam version i have installed, reading in the description "specially done to use the Dreambox FPU" is attracting... and it seem working correctly, but i haven't much experience with oscam, it's 3 weeks i'm using Oscam..

i just decided to install it on my DM800, before this i was using Oscam on a dm500, and the DM800 was in a carton (forgotten since two years)...

So Dolphs recommand to me to use the mips version, and MrBeam the FPU version ... i need more advices... so FPU or Mips ? this is not clear, both versions are working, and both of you are recommanding different build of Oscam...

Isn't  one better suited for DM800 than the other ?

is Openpli OE 2.0 or OE 1.6 ?

OpenPLi is neither. These are version indicators used by Dream Multimedia for their images, and all image builders using a copy of that (i.e. the Gemini's of this world) use the same terminology. OpenPLi runs on it's own OE environment, using it's own version of Enigma.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

So open pli is OP 2.1, or OP 3.0/4.0 :)

Thankyou for the answer...

Yes ;)

Offcourse OpenPLi runs on OE (OpenEmbedded) too, but a different one from DMM's image.

Obviously there are similarities. When most people talk about OE 1.6 or OE 2.0, they actually (mean to) talk about the Python versions (2.6 vs 2.7) in those environments.

Where I think OE 1.6 and OpenPLi 2.x runs 2.6, OE 2.0, OpenPLi 3 and 4 run 2.7 (you can check using "python --version" on your box).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I will check in my box as soon as Openpli Team will give us (DM800 users) an OpenPLI 4.0 :)

But you are right, on OpenPLI (latest build) opkg list | grep python return me "Python 2.7.7"

If we talk about opkg, each time i launch opkg list, i get an error message :

Package enigma2-plugin-extensions-automatic-fullbackup version 2.2 has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Package enigma2-plugin-extensions-dvboptions version 0.5 has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Package enigma2-plugin-extensions-lcd4linux version 3.8-r3 has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Package enigma2-plugin-extensions-scroll-lcd-text version 0.3-beta has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Package enigma2-plugin-extensions-tmbd version 5.0-rc7 has no valid architecture, ignoring.

Do you know where this error come from ? and how can i correct it please, (i got this error, with a fresh OpenPLI install - no plugins or extensions installed) ?

You can forget an OpenPLi 4 (or even an OpenPLi 3) for the DM800. The box is declared end-of-life by DMM, so it's stuck on a 2.16.8 kernel.

What a pity... It's really a pity Openpli team don't want to continue to update and give life to this box... Lot of users have a DM800, specially in Morroco where i live...

About Oscam, i have a problem with new versions, they don't detect my local card correctly... The Oscam version i have downloaded from Openpli download panel work perfectly, but if i replace the executable with the latest version (FPU or MIPS), here is what i have in the entitlements

Here is what i have in the log

ps : i'm editing this post just now

I don't understand what happen, just yesterday, before i reinstall openpli, it was working perfectly, but today impossible to load my Bis.tv local card correctly.

It's a Viaccess local (i think)

Here is the entitlement when detected correctly :

The version which work perfectly is : Oscam 1.20-unstable_svn build #7365

This is my usual settings, they work on Oscam 1.20 7365, and on latest Oscam version on DM500...

@TheParasol : Are you sure about MHZ to 2700 ? will this not burn my localcard ? (its new, less than one month) :)

Could i have done an error when i downloaded oscam ? may be a wrong version which isn't designed for DM800 and Openpli?

In fact i haven't understand completely the MHZ Settings, so i don't want to make a mistake with grave consequences...

i even don't understand why we should specify Mhz settings in oscam while with cccam we just have to insert the local card in the cardreader to make it work (except whith this particular card which isn't supported by cccam), but my 3 others bis card was working without changing any setting, just put it inside the cardreader and cccam make it work......

If you are sure about the MHZ 2700, i'm ok to try...  Can you confirm please ? because on all Oscam Bis TV config on forums, i have see Mhz  = 500 with 100mhz less or more /

cardMhz = 357

[reader]
label                         = bis
protocol                      = internal
device                        = /dev/sci0
caid                          = 0500
detect                        = cd
mhz                           = 500
ident                         = 0500:042820,042830,FFF400
group                         = 1
blockemm-unknown              = 1
lb_weight                     = 800
dropbadcws                    = 1
auprovid                      = 042830

In oscam version from pli feeds you must use 2700 for mips bases boxes.

Thankyou for your help TheParasol, you were close to the solution and have you have give me a good track ...

In fact as a newbie, when i installed Oscam on my DM500/DM800, i just duplicated a configuration a friend have created for me without trying to touch sensitive settings like card frequencies, i had checked on forums if the Bis reader settings was correct, but no more...

And in fact to make my Bis.Tv card recognized i have set :

Mhz =  (i removed the setting to let Oscam choose for me) and Oscam have set :

Mhz = 450

For Cardmhz, i just have set like in the webif Cardmhz description recommanded setting for Dreambox Mipsel =  2700 :

Cardmhz = 2700

So if someone need those settings, they are working good (i think - but i'm not a specialist - i still haven't understood why we should enter those two settings... as the newbie i am)

here is the oscam cardreader log after i changed the settings to the good one

In any case, i thank you :)

OK, you use a newer oscam. Stefansat switched MHz and cardmhz again. But keep in mind that in Oscam currently in feed of openpli its the other way around. With 2700 you set the max freq of the pll christal used in the internal cardreader.

Do you mean by set CardMhz to 2700 i have overclocked my cardreader ? If yes, it's very dangerous ? what should i do ?

@Cedric - use MIPSEL ( OE1.6 ) for dm800 - also would recommend to use gorgone's simplebuild :  wget ss4200.homelinux.com/oscam/simplebuild , just to make your life easier

@Dolphs : You mean this website (homelinux.com) can compile a special version of oscam just for my DM800 and its installed packages, if i enter this line in my DM800 telnet ?

wget ss4200.homelinux.com/oscam/simplebuild

Life couldn't be so easy ? is it ?

I have tried to reduce cardmhz setting, and the lower setting to make my Bis local card recognized by Oscam is Cardmhz=2050

Should i keep it to 2050 or re-set it to 2700 ?

Any idea please ?

As far i have understand on Oscam description  :
Oscam Cardmhz setting description

for models with MIPS cpu use cardmhz = 2700.

E.G. You have a dream 800 HD PVR, thats a mips so you should set cardmhz to 2700. If you want to clock the card ok just use cardmhz = 2700 an mhz = 500. If you want to overclock it use cardmhz = 2700 and mhz = 900

So everything seem correct as described on streamboard  - Or may be i haven't understood correctly (i should say, my main language is french, and my best friend is Google Translate)?

Version prior to rev .... {cant check it now since oscam svn is suffering under ddos attack} take mhz = 2700 and all revisions lets say newer than 1 januari 2014 the mhz and cardmhz are swapped (some people using external readers find it more logical that cardmhz is setting the reader and mhz is setting card clock)

Not my logic, but I dont care as the community says it is more logical then its more logical ;)

I checked it out, cardmhz = 2700 is ok for your oscam revision and box.

You could even set cardmhz to 540 if you want, if you want to overclock set it to 900 and your card runs at 9 mhz.

But this only on dreamboxes. All other kind of boxes like vu, et and xp1000 just ignore any setting in mhz and cardmhz and the internal cardreader driver clocks the card manually.
