why should any mipsel developer even consider working on SH4 when there is no standard OE development for it ?

what is this : https://gitorious.or...ox-project-sh4? a playground ?

i did talk to some SH4 companies and guess what they don't even care about enigma2

we know about all of them and again there is no standard OE development

all SH4 brands/models must use standard OE not just some of them

So, if you do not care about anyone but 'your own' - why should 'anyone else' bother about you and your 'opinions'??? :D

Because look at this 'opinion': what I have shown you is brand new - no one else in the world had something like this until Graugans made it and published it recently (he worked on it, as a pet hobby, in his spare time, over the course of almost two years), then he made  first PBNIGMA (with Delfi/tromoto and co. from PB Team) just a few weeks ago. The layer he made was incorporated into Open Alliance just the other day - so, how could you "know all about it"??? Have you a SH4 rec, have you tested it, have you even minimally considered it? Obviously not, as you obviously do not understand what you are looking at, so you are not a serious man to take into consideration, after this public fiasco of yours... Because, after this development, all SH4 "brands"/models will have the common Enigma2 from which to work... :D

Bye-bye... :)

Thanx! You see, we are talking about a seriously good coder, with good partners, now the co-operation spreading wider, so who knows what comes out of this labour of love... :)

The guys are moving to a different build system, they tell us, so soon, we all hope, we might have a very interesting new toy for the Sat TV hobbyist world to play with...

And if this effort pays off, then more SH4 recs will probably follow suit... :)

We'll see... ;)

nonsense and bull*.

Facts:

1. OpenPli team does not support officially sh4 boxes.

2. The drivers layer which you have access only by using TDT build system is not same as the OE building where someone needs to validate the drivers before inclusion in a standard OE distribution.

3. There are developers which have contributed to the sh4 development more then anyone else on the "flagship" BRCM OE system, that does not disqualifies anyone efforts.

Conclusion:

4. if your work is private and not public under praying eyes you do not need to reply to postings as presented in this thread.

Everyone is happy.

Not sure I understand your point(s)...

1) No one said they did, so which great dragon are you slaying now?

2) From what I have been told, there are plenty of non-TDT drivers about, some being written as we speak, kernels patched and so forth... :)

3) These guys are frequently on both ends, doing what they do, out of love, passion, boredom, whatever - and some out of love for money, fame or infamy, sure... but overall there's all sorts, like in any walk of life...

4) What does this have to do with anything? PBNIGMA is in the public Beta stage of development, put out for testing, nothing hidden, already in other GITs - or what were you referring to? More convoluted stuff, vicar (so no wonder one can't get neither head, nor tail of your story...)?? :D :P B)

There are no such drivers which are not based on the TDT sources.

Kernel patches and stuff..does not cover that description.

Whatever this guys are doing is their choice to do so but not to appreciate original work done by TDT group and followers.

..well just to say it is not fair. :)

GIT or not who cares...you still require proper drivers.

You see, on the level of principles, an absolute statement is reserved for God. Us humans - if we are clever - should qualify our statement... In this case something like "as far as I know" would do better... Then, a question should follow. NOT an ABSOLUTE statement, as if you're omniscient God! On the level of principles.

Concretely, I know of a couple of guys who are good and can write drivers, as we have already seen at least one of them publish various thingies, like WLAN stuff etc. Of course, one needs sources, in most cases, so we'll see how far they'll get but...

I mentioned kernel patching etc. as an extra thing they are doing, not... Achhh, never mind...

For the rest, we'll all have to wait and see, eh?

As for "not appreciating TDT work" - that is your wild interpretation, a person who obviously has no idea what careful thinking entails! No one said that, in any way. That said, one has the right to be critically minded, even if one appreciates their work, once one hits a wall and decides to build something new, something of their own. And we are talking about a highly creative effort we have not seen in this area - but since you know it all, maybe you should explain it all to us, even though you have not seen any of it in the making, not tested any of it, possibly have no such box etc. etc. Wild, wild stuff, no doubt! :D But you really love it and can't stop yourself, no self-control, as the good Peter Gabriel song goes... :D

Or you think that it is forbidden somehow, to be creative and dare come up with a novelty, because TDT have done what they have done and - that's it, folks?!?  This would be like "traditional cooking" mantra - those recipes are to be adored and no novelty allowed, eh?!?

Jeezus... Maybe you should start talking in your own name from now on???!!!??? If you can't do something of the sort, I would suggest that you should not think of the whole world as incapable of such an effort, just because you aren't... Maybe, just maybe you should allow for a possibility that others can and will do such things and you shouldn't be so foolish so as to deny the very that possibility (just because you don't know how)?!? What do you think?

Now why should I tell you to hope for better , when I know there is no such thing ??

You see, it shows you are a educated person who likes to indulge himself in nice speeches and because

he thinks about himself more knowledgeable then others but on technical level you have not much of

an idea how things come to life in consumer electronics.

DVBAPI drivers for STi boxes are based on an unsupported project called "Havana" from STi which is now defunct and not worked upon.

STI have never published or improved this code so that developers can have a better understanding of the

internals or to optimize the SoC functionality. The standard STi code which comes with a purchase of large quantity of chips and

provided by FAE does not have dvb-api functionality, which needs to get build from ground up if not using TDT environment.

Please tell who will do that just for "fun"...without knowing the functioning of the SoC this assuming that person

have also access to closed confidential data such datasheets...

Please next time do your homework, and assume that person your are trying to convince about your superiority knows more then you do. ;)

If only I stated anything of the sort... Why not create a straw-man, so you can slay another great demon, eh?  :D

But don't let that stop you assuming all that nonsense, in order to feel superior. It seems this is the only thing you are really after...

I am not more knowledgeable than others. Quite the opposite is the case, when it comes to IT - I'd always be the first to mention it. That is not to be mixed up with what I have recently experienced/tested/seen. As opposed to you.  'Nuff said... :P

I know of that little story, too. Who doesn't? But that does not automatically prevent people from getting their hands on various docs and sources of various devices in those machines etc. etc.(so you can feel an absolute authority in the area for all time and never have to make an effort again, ergo you can assume the worst forever and rest on your laurels... errrmmm.... sorry, what would those laurels be based on, please??? I mean, what did you ever publicly do, what did you publish to be treated as "sat TV hobbyist "royalty"?!? :D )

Nevertheless, Mr God, I defer to you, as the all-knowing and all-seeing...

So, carry on, regardless... :D
