Thanks athoik, I will give it a try, I already had some suspicion about dvb-core being a fixed kernel component instead of a module.

I will also apply the other patches, I thought they were not necessary for this purpose.

Well I made a new kernel for the dm800se image with dvb-core as module, this works fine, but if I replace this module with my own build one from the media_build repository I get:

Any suggestions ? I'm thinking DVB_NET also as module instead of static ?

do you have DVB_NET enabled in your media_build config?

But DVB_CORE is present in the dm800se kernel:

CONFIG_DVB_NET=y
 

I'm not sure what DVB_NET does, do we need it in a DMM box ?

If other boxes have this disabled we can try to disable that one too. But (there is always a but!) Last time we disabled something in DMM kernel (NFSD V4) drivers (the closed ones) stopped working.

Go ahead with your tests, I think you are just few steps away from success!

The kernel config is not used for your v4l compile. The v4l config is used. So, change your v4l config with: CONFIG_DVB_NET=y

CONFIG_DVB_NET=y did the trick, box now runs at dvc-core from the media_build git.

Only in tuner configuration is says: Alps BsBE2 (not supported).

Did anyone have any luck with this? I've been trying to get it working with openvix on a Mutant2400 but I am getting some kernel errors (similar to the ones gjstroom is getting).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry to react on a year old topic, I didn't know anyone was busy trying to build a driver for this device.
I'm afraid there's no news to this?

Linux support was added to kernel 3.13, as support for old device version was added at that time.
Linux driver supports only DVB-T.
DVB-T2 and DVB-C are not supported as there is no driver for MN88473 demodulator which provides those DTV standards.

And you want to use as dvb-c/t2/t? For et10000 pluggable tuners is the best option.

I know, but they are allready in use and I just want to try it.
Also I would like to use it on a ET9500 but I'm affraid that will never work because of the kernell (3.8.7)

I'm trying to this to scan DVB-T with no success. It works OK in Windows8. (Not tested DVB-C)

I edit the post, there is nothing strange.

I do not see the adapter1/frontend0 and adapter1/frontend1 created.

Although according to dmesg those files registered, without any notable error.

So at the moment, the only strange is that adapter1 is missing!

Enigma2 ignores adapter1/frontend1, so you might have luck with the following:
