OpenPLi image (and IPTV Player in it) I tried testing tonight had a problem I couldn't overcome:
Value:
{'AElig': '\xc6', 'Aacute': '\xc1', 'Acirc': '\xc2', 'Agrave': '\xc0', 'Alpha': 'Α', 'Aring': '\xc5', 'Atilde': '\xc3', 'Auml': '\xc4', ...
"Wrong magic" etc. when trying to install via Telnet, whatever I tried "opkg update..."...

That was the first thing I tried... I will try again...
"Magic" error... OE-A not working for OpenPLi.

Not in this case, they are both 2.7.
The difference seems to be between OE-A basis and OpenPLi basis for E2...
You write for OE-A, it seems, whereas OpenPLi seems to have a different set of plugins in feeds. etc.
In this case, it seems some OE-A plugins have sneeked into the OpenPLi based E2 feed and are creating havoc...
It's a new Mnigma being tested with various E2 basis, so...
Unless you have such a file (htmlentitydefs)?

Yes of course the htmlentitydefs is python module not realeted to any E2 distribution....
https://docs.python....-htmlentitydefs
I do not write anything for OE-A in my STB I use image based on OpenPLI.

Last plugin version?
From cmd line:
opkg update && opkg install python-html rm -rf /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IPTVPlayer cd /tmp wget http://iptvplayer.vline.pl/download/update/latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz tar -xzf latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz -C /tmp rm latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz cp -r iptvplayer-for-e2.git/IPTVPlayer /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IPTVPlayer rm -rf iptvplayer-for-e2.git/IPTVPlayer sync reboot

I do not understand from whence you got this wrong conclusion?
Well, it worked in OE-A based OpenATV and PBNIGMA but not in OpenPLi, since, it seems, OpenPLi lacks certain bits to the system...
You know I am not an IT pro but I can tell you what really works and what doesn't... So, this is from experience, not from "knowledge"... You will make sense of it, I am sure, you're a good coder. I may not have expressed myself precisely, in IT terms but...
Good luck!

Btw, there are reports on Sat-Universe of various images where after proper installation of IPTV Player, the plugin is NOT to be found among plugins, for various reasons...
There may be a clue to improve compatibility, as it were... Certain images do not handle the installation well, whether from ipk or from telnet via internet...
Perhaps IPTV Player - during installation - should check for a few more elements, just as it is checking for ffmpeg, ExtPlayer3, full wget etc.?

You are not reading properly. I have installed it via Telnet commands (internet) after I installed ffmpeg and only then I have tried installing the missing components via Telnet.
Not working, for various reasons.
So, try again...
Edit:
Not all python modules are available, obviously... else I would have installed them... Some simply are NOT available in all distributions etc. etc.

Also, if you install something that is missing dependencies, inform the author of the package so it can be fixed.
Unlike some other images, there are no packages installed in an OpenPLi image that don't have a reason for being there. Every package needs to have it's dependencies defined correctly.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I wrote it many times, I will not prepare ipk packages, there is so many E2 distributions with in many version, so I will not have time to doing anything else.
And for example how can I test ipk for VU for specific E2 distribution without VU?Please think.IPTVPlayer will work on any E2 distribution. The only thing you must do is installing missing python modules in correct version.
actually, when you have the ipk with all needed dependencies declared, it is pretty much 'e2 distribution' independent,
additional packages would be installed from given user's own feed during installation automatically
(and when instead user needs to find/install necessary packages on his own, it may cause more problems...)

Yep, WW, I am trying...
And no, some bits, that are needed for this, in a bare OpenPLi image do not exist, sadly...

What do you mean by "do not exist"? Are not installed by default? Or do not exist in the feed? And which packages are you talking about?

Partially, it's written above, in my report.
I am testing a new Mnigma, based on OpenPLi.
Problems appeared and some I have managed to sort out but some I have noted down and reported here, since I couldn't find anything of the sort on the net...
One, I suppose, must be an IT pro/developer - and be capable/knowledgeable enough to be able to put together a missing file/dependency and I am clearly not that guy...
Now, if you asked me something in Philosophy/Politics/Sociology...
