We already report it some time ago. I am getting afraid it's a limitation of the SoC (hardware).

Amazing television and every time the annoying tearing so sad.
And every time it happens the sirens are switched on again :-)
Expensive box and often crappie picture.
Hope they solve this problem.

We first neef to know of the tearing issue is relaties to the vu and not to the tv...
Look at the screenshot of Rob then you know it's box related.
If made a screenshot olso but I can't post it from my iPad but with the same result.

I was at the Anga last year and the Solo4k was demonstrated there. I already noticed the tearing then, so yeah, it's definitely there (as far as I'm concerned). I do remember we mentioned it, but I am not sure if we got a promise that it would be solved.
My gut feeling says this is the first of a range of 4k SoC's and it simply has some initial problems that will be ironed out in following SoC's. Sad for those who bought the solo4k for actual 4k viewing, I realise. I think the solo4k is a great receiver for UHD, just not the 4k part

So my question is what to do with this receiver?
I bought it for about €500,00 and the hardware is simply not ok.
Back to were I bought it or should I claime the garenty at VU because the box is still not ok and the sirens is getting louder and louder:)

That might depend on local law. In the Netherlands it's the retailer who's responsible for any product he sells, and he's the one who should fix the issue (or refund the box). This is regardless of the fact whether or not he's being backed-up by the importer/manufacturer.

It seems the tearing is more common (and maybe only) on Samsung tv's.
So although the cause might be the Solo4K, I think it's partly a Samsung fw issue too.
I had no tearing at all on my Panasonic 4K tv, but I do on my Samsung that replaced the Panasonic.

Or do you guys think that it can be fixed with new drivers in the near future.
Last option is that VU comes with a solution:)

I am not experiencing tearing on my LG UHD TV. Are you sure that the problem is not TV related?

Just to understand it correctly... For tv you do not have tearing,,, you have that tearing for downloaded files???
I have tearing for example watching RTL 4HD and when cameras switch often then tearing comes.
Sometimes 1 per hour sometimes more frequent.
I can see the tearing also on webif screenshot like Rob posted before.
Hope this info helps.

Sometimes i have tearing once a week, sometimes once a day.
One thing is clear it is the Vu - Samsung combination, other tv brands don`t have this tearing problem.
I am sure they won`t give you your money back for your Vu because they will tell you it is a Samsung problem.
Samsung will tell you it is a Vu problem.

Because it happens when camara's are switched often I think about one of the picture "improvement" algothythms in the tv you actually don't need...

An all on smasung tv's...? If so I think the issue is related to samsung...

I have only seen reports of Samsung Tv's that suffer with it (my own included).
It can be weeks at a time when nothing happens, then once it starts it will do it all day long, every 30 - 45 mins, unless you reboot the Solo4K, the quick way to "fix" it is to switch the Solo4K off an on again, or to switch from Auto to RGB colour space as it forces a resync with the tv, but it is only short lived, a reboot is needed to stop it doing it again that day.

To "tearing" issue - I have not observed it on Philips TV.
Who is responsible for tuner configuration? Basically VU+. But could OpenPLI team modify it?
My idea is about backward compatibility with other VU+ products. This could allow users to start exploiting Solo 4K cheap way with lnb's which they already have or with only small hardware modifications. Instead of quad unicable lnb to use quad universal lnb. These two solutions should be equal according to signal coverage. Then it should be necessary for each lnb to add some rows for tuner configuration setup of other diseqc sources.
For example:
Tuner A
- LNBx 1. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
2. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
3. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
4. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
- etc
- C, D, E automatic loop through but only associated with A
Tuner B
- LNBx 1. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
2. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
3. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
4. diseqc 1.1 (input 1 up to 4)
diseqc 1.0 (A to D)
- etc
- F, G, H automatic loop through but only associated B
Posts #515-517 led me to such an idea. Do not beat me if this idea is stupid. I was not able to find any description (more detailed) of tuner hardware.
