Another test is just to set the preferred tuner Dvbs to C,D or E, then go to watch a channel, it should be using the preferred tuner you set, it will give the same results of tune failed, glitching etc.

This is an unsupported configuration. A leaf tuner (C-H) can never operate without one of the the root tuners (A- B) beings active, that is how FBC works.

Works fine in PLi and OpenViX in that configuration with the old drivers. Anyway it is not possible for the root tuner to always be active.

Example 1, recording on tuner A, viewing on tuner C. Recording stops. Viewing is broken up.

Example 2, viewing on tuner A, recording starts on tuner C, Put box in standby. Recording is broken up.

I haven't reported it. I thought you did, according to post #369.

strange, this works with the previous drivers

I will repeat once more, you cannot use a leaf tuner without the root tuner being active. This is ensured by the fbc tuner manager by always selecting a root tuner when one is available, and only if none are available, the leaf tuners are considered. Once a leaf tuner is selected and used, the corresponding root tuner will not be released until all connected leafs are free. If that doesn't happen, then that is a bug in the fbc code that will need to be fixed. I don't see how drivers come in his story. Note that the root tuner held active after being released may not show up in the "active tuners list".

Erik you are missing the point.

Lets say you are recording something using the root tuner. Zap to another service. Viewed service is using a leaf. The recording on the root tuner finishes. Picture on leaf tuner from that point on is unwatchable.

With the old drivers this does not happen.

You are missing the point. The specific FBC code in enigma recognises this situation and keeps the root tuner active (but in the background, you won't see it) until the leaf tuners are done. For the moment I assume the old driver masked or workaround an existing problem in the FBC code.

Before we get lost in argueing, did you already TRY it, the new drivers in combination with our enigma? Our enigma has 75% rewritten FBC code.

Erik... now I understand... When the root tuner is doing a recording and you're watching via a leave.... The root tuner needs to keep occupied untill you zap away from the leave...

-or- when a root needs to be released and we have a leave... hold the release until all leaves are released... (the root tuner in fact arranges (drives) the power to the LNB).

(hard to clarify.... but at least I understand it needs a fix in E2 code)

Littlesat it is not about powering the LNB. The LNB must be powered otherwise there would be no picture at all. The problem is the picture is severely broken up.

Are you sure.... the root tuner feeds the LNB... when the root tuner is shut down it can be the LNB get no power... So the leave tuners cannot tune in... No power to LNB... picture broken up!!!

I'm not sure... but what I think sounds logical... the leave tuner just are routed through input 1 and input 2... they can not deliver power to the LNBs...

Or do you see still RF-signal is coming in...???

But I can make a mistake here....

@Erik,

Just built OpenPLi5 right now. OE core branch master-next. E2 branch master.

Config:

Tuner A for Unicable, SCR1.

Tuner C for Unicable, SCR2, linked to tuner A

Test:

Start recording on tuner A.

Zap to a different service.

Tuner C is now in use for currently playing service.

Stop the recording.

Picture on tuner C is broken up.

Tested with the older driver and the problem is gone.

->

My 2 cents... the new driver turns the power OFF from tuner 1.... When tuner A becomes inactive....

Littlesat, if power stops going to the LNB then the signal will not be converted to IF and there will be nothing on the cable whatsoever. Right now we have a broken picture.

confirmed

same here:- as it stands with the latest vu drivers and pli image built with master-next oe and master e2.

using a 4scr unicable setup

recording on tuner A,  watching on tuner C

recording has stopped on Tuner A

Tuner C goes nuts,    glitching, tune fail msgs, repeating over and over.

same image but with previous drivers

using a 4scr unicable setup

recording on tuner A,  watching on tuner C

recording has stopped on Tuner A

Tuner C carries on fine.

I just tried it here...

Recording on A... watching on C... stop recording... No issue at all...

But this is with the image from the website here... So OpenPLi4... (has this image also new drivers?)

But not UNICABLE... using a normal LNB instead...

This is a Unicable problem. It works just fine with a Universal LNB.

So Unicable broken in latest driver, I have heard its an extension to diseqc commands.

If i remember correctly in latest driver they fixed something with diseqc.... and obviously broke the diseqc unicable commands.

There is nothing to "test" or "investigate" its just borked for now!

Not only unicable is broken. I also see that the auto satellite scan is broken.... I'm afraid the fix diseqc release note should be break release note instead... ;)... I'm afraid a timing issue over diseqc....

That is caused by this commit:
