Users running the previous Gstreamer 1.7.0 image, should be able to peform a Software Update!

Changes since previous release:

- mx3L's gstreamer revert which fixes mp4 playback from remote locations
- Spark drivers updated to 20151113
- Using aio-grab from oe-alliance which includes fixes for sprak receivers
- New Japhar IPTV List (thanks to ToySoft).
- Removed the linux 2.6.18 kernel patch for ignoring the vermagic as it might be the cause of some instabilities.

Changes compared to openpli-oe-core gst-1:

- Ships with gstreamer upstream master git:
Using the same patches as openpli-oe-core gst-1 with only these changes:
  Removed: 0001-baseparse-post-tag-list-when-avg-bitrate-changes-at-.patch
because this patch was already checked in upstream.
  Added: 0001-Revert-qtdemux-respect-qt-segments-in-push-mode-for-.patch
by mx3L which fixes mp4 playback from remote locations.
- Every receiver uses christophecvr's multibox dvbmediasink.
- Using libtrmp and rtmpdump from oe-alliance.
- Some small enigma2 patches for Dreambox receivers (ac3/dts bypass and blanking on zap support).
These are only applied for Dreambox receivers.
- AAC to AC3 transcoding V2 by mx3L (requires a fast cpu).
- IPTV Player from samsamsam included (thx to Athoik for the recipe).
- Large list of public IPTV streams included thanks to the Japhar Team.
- Updated libcdio and cdtextinfo for audio-cd support by christophecvr.
- DM800Se, DM7020HD and DM800SeV2 driver upgraded to 20151201:
  added si2166b blindscan support
- Spark images includes the pti.ko from OpenATV so softcam's should work now.
- Using aio-grab source from oe-alliance which includes fixes for spark receivers.

Known issues:

- DM800 first boot will take a while, please be patient. The next boot will be faster.
- On spark/spark7162 you need to set 'boxtype  =  dreambox' for oscam dvbapi.
We're using the OE-A drivers and 'duckbox' doesn't seem to work on these.
- On spark/spark7162 you need to set a skin which doesn't resize the framebuffer.
Because sometimes it doesn't scale back to fullscreen.
I've included the MX-HQ7 skin for use as workaround.
- On Zgemma Star you cannot use fullHD skins.
  This is a hardware/driver limitation.
Please don't try it, it will crash enigma2.
- Some Dreambox remotes behave very sensitive.
This causes button presses to register multiple times instead of just once.
As a workaround you can adjust the key interval:
Go to: Menu - System - Input devices - dreambox remote control (native).
Set "Change repeat and delay settings" to yes
Set "Interval between keys when repeating:" to 200ms or 300ms.
  Press green button (OK)
Now set the same delay for: "dreambox advanced remote control (native)" as well.

Can I use this image with my Original DM800D?
Please reply. I am very afraid to get No-CA Error.

The ancient DM800 only can use the 2.1 images. This box isn't active supported anymore.

Indeed.

This was just my best effort job to bring Gstreamer 1.x to the mass for testing purposes.

Non of the above images are supported by the PLi team in any way.

However my DM800HD image is feature complete and equal to all other images, it uses the same enigma2 master git.

So it's not 2.1

In that case, of course, one must be connected via a LAN cable... :D

Seriously, if one goes to Plugins > Delete plugins - there is no Driver section, as if none are installed...

And in my Alien I can't get it to recognise and install the drivers for my WLAN stick either.

Plus, as I wrote earlier, I can't download any plugins, either. So, bummer...

Anyone with a mipsel platform, with similar problems?

Thank you for the gstreamer recipes! I managed to build my own gstreamer upstream master git image for my Vu+ Duo receiver.

I confirm Test MP4 and Dougnut test plays fine now.

I tested a couple of other streams on my Vu+ Duo receiver and I found a little problem when the videostream starts playing:

the lower fifth of the video is distorted during the first couple of seconds, the following image shows the distortion:

8x4uug.jpg

Streams with the distortion problem:

http://abclive.abcne..._2500_av-p.m3u8

http://ooyalahd2-f.a..._3464_av-p.m3u8

http://ooyalahd2-f.a..._3464_av-p.m3u8

Streams without problem, playing fine from the first frame:

http://urtmpkal-f.ak...dex_1_av-p.m3u8

http://urtmpkal-f.ak...dex_1_av-p.m3u8

http://rtmp.infomani...3/playlist.m3u8

Please can anyone test these streams on their receivers, so I know if this is a specific Vu+ problem or not.

I quickly investigated the streams with the tool mediainfo and for now I can say that the streams with the distortion problem make use of CABAC features of the H.264 standard. The streams without problem don't use CABAC features.

A last question, is it possible to hide the "buffering %" message that appears on top of the screen while buffering the stream?

charlesduco,

Thanks for testing and building your own image!

I'm glad you were able to use the recipes yourself :-)

I was also getting reports of some akamaihd.net hls streams not working properly.

I hope to look into this later this week.

gorski,

Thanks again for your feedback bro.

It appears the spark stuff is really a mess.

Reason for this is the spark receiver I was given, was only with me for a short time.

I don't have it anymore so I can't debug myself.

Regarding the issues:

- Video descrambling is broken and softcams will not work.

I have it fixed already and will be there in the next update.

The pti.ko needed updating because of the new kernel and drivers.

- Not able to install plugins/software from the menu.

This only happens in the spark image, all other images are ok.

I'm building the spark images using taapat's bitbucket branch with some patches to make it work within the openpli-oe-core environment.

However it appears the plugin browser is broken.

I'll have to get another spark box to properly debug and fix this.

If you want to install something, please use the opkg command in telnet.

opkg update
opkg list
opkg install myfavouritething

- The "video decoding window not always re-sizing" issue was there from the beginning.

It probably needs some enigma2 patches.

Since I'm using the OE-Alliance drivers, the fix should be in OpenATV's enigma2 code.

I tried looking for it for hours but couldn't find a hint on why the problem is not present in their image.

If someone from the OE-A or OpenATV can help me with this, you're very welcome ;)

bu61b,

Low symbol rate as in bad reception?

I'm using the the same driver as in OpenATV, do you have the same problem using that image?

Regarding usb wireless receivers:

Keep in mind that I created these images for the purpose of testing the latest gstreamer additions for OpenPLi.

The image may not be suitable for every day usage.

Most complaints of "wifi stick x" not working are always regarding the DM800 and Spark receivers.

These are unsupported by OpenPLi and also very old (and not supported anymore by their vendor)

The kernel of these receivers (2.6.18 for the DM800 and 2.6.32 for spark) don't provide any drivers for recent wireless devices.

So I tried to include many bitbake recipes for out-of-tree wifi drivers that compile against these old kernels.

However I haven't tested any of these as I don't own any usb wifi sticks.

If you wan't them working then please collect the bitbake recipes (driver and firmware) for your stick that works with old kernels and I'll try to include them for you.

Also some drivers which are already included may need manual loading, eg modprobe rt5370.

So if you're familiar with linux a bit, login to telnet and try to load some drivers and check the kernel log with: dmesg.

I'm a one-man army and I'm limited in time.

I can't make your wifi stick working if I don't have any hardware to test with.

And saying stuff like "well it works in image X" doesn't help either ;)

Personally I think PLi is the best image because of it's robustness and simplicity.

And I think we came a long way with gstreamer 1.x being able to play HLS, MPEG-Dash and Smooth streams on our dvb receivers.

I really think the current images work very well in terms of IPTV playback.

So again special thanks to everyone helping out making it possible, you know who you are !

My guess was kernel/driver compatibility, since I found the drivers inside the image but they can't be installed...

As for debugging: let me know how exactly to do it (telnet commands) and I will!!! ;)

Or, for instance, how to "manually load" a driver?

OE-A has more tools and does more but needs more firepower, so OpenPLi is better for weaker, more limited, older HW (like Alien)...

One needs a good Device Manager, I think! Also, Picon and EPG path set plugins and so on. You will find them wherever I posted...

That is, if one is but an amateur... :D

Keep up the good fight!!! :)

Btw, low symbol rates are a problem on, for instance, 16E, with Montenegro and similar channels.

Tap's sorted it out for Alien1. Others haven't...

I see, but I'm using OE-A's driver so its obvious that it doesn't work then.

Soon I'll get another Spark Triplex and then I'll switch to tap's driver instead :-)
