What do you mean exactly by "from scratch" (as there are various scenarious that would fit this description)

Delete the entire build directory.

I did a fresh clone of https://github.com/O...pli-oe-core.git

this morning. Only that patch applied.

The crux is whether you deleted the "sstate-cache" and/or "cache" directories (that are not inside the tmp directory). Only if you delete these as well you will get a total build-from-scratch (and we did that two days ago).

It should never be necessary to delete the whole openpli directory and clone againt. git checkout .; git checkout master (or whatever branch you're building from) works wonders.

I deleted openpli-oe-core/build

Not the recipes and the sources.

Build dir is  cache, conf, sstate-cache, tmp and 3 files (bitbake.lock, env.source etc, ubinize.cfg).

So, yes, you deleted tmp, sstate-cache and cache. Normally only tmp is required (which saves a lot of compilation time).

Just to please you, we will give the next release version number 12239.175. Then we're the fastest, and way ahead of anything else.

Instead of useless moaning , why don't you do something useful for a change? Like help us if you know it so well? Of pay us so we have more time available? Or go somewhere else and complain there?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Unfortunately whit the last unstable bitbake versions self well. At least for problems such as there are now. well.

(could well be that if You know which ones removing a couple off packages with the bitbake -b <bb-file> -c cleanall will solve the issue) but indeed fresh clone self is not required.

People please don't complain so much. I'd rather wait a little longer and have a good working 5 than one released now and full of bugs. Remember the PLi guys do this in their own spare time and it is incredible what they release. Even a lot of manufacturers deliver their hardware with an (adapted) verion of PLI. This gives a great compliment about the functionality and stability they release.

It'll be released before the next millennium. :)

We could decide to release the development branch as it is right now, in which we're still working hard to fix all sorts of model-specific problems as "OpenPLi-5" and wish you very much luck with it. Would you want that? For those who really don't care and only want bleeding edge (for whatever reason), they can always compile an image themselves, it's open for a reason.

Can each of you that keep moaning about the release of OpenPLi-5 clearly explain why they need it so desperately, what is so magical about it compared to 4?

Hi satwalker, I am also waiting for it since over a year. This is the slowest team the world has ever seen.
How much money have you been donating to the PLi team?
Since when do you have the right to complain about the development of a free software image? What obligation does the PLi team have towards you? Did you buy anything from them?
