Version is increased when python/reader changes would cause a problem.

The reader and python files have changed. These changes mean  a version increase was mandated

In that case we're back to "the maintainers have to properly maintain it".

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

OK, noted.

What exactly do you mean?

Abu and I are the sole contributors to that plugin.

Sometimes python code needs to me updated.

The plugin is maintained 100%, but the changes never get to the end users because PLi blocks them.

Should be AUTOREV.

There is a provider that changes parameters… and now it required a new xml file… but it is everything or nothing with normal update. Or keep the old stuff and get the specific xml from GitHub and replace it.

See above.

It doesn't build anymore, most likely due to configure or makefile changes that require Python 3.11, I've seen similar issues with other plugins.

The problem isn't data, the problem is the new data requires a code update. Which we can't implement as the plugin is no longer compatible, it doesn't build.

Because of M4 changes?

I don't know, I didn't investigate it, no time for it.

My only point was that we pin everything just because AUTOREV can't be trusted to always build without errors. As this case proves again.

But this was a recipe problem, not plugin. No idea why someone changed the recipe without testing.

Not really related to the recipe, @Abu Baniaz is talking about a 8.3-release build, that recipe hasn't changed in a year or so.

The currently pinned commit hash builds with this recipe, HEAD doesn't.
