Smells like there is something in your autobackup that shouldn't be there.

 

If you have a full backupsuite backup of your previous 7.3 installation, perhaps you can flash that so you have a working box again, and then post the /etc/backup.cfg file so we can check what you actually put in the backup.

What can i say Abu Baniaz is a diamond gizza! Went out his way to help me which took over an hour of his time. We couldn't get new image to load with autoback up as kept crashing so just did fresh install and added everything manually. Running 8.1 image now. Couldn't do it without him, True gent � thank you�

Still that means there's something in your backup that shouldn't be there. So if you don't address that problem, you'll be stuck again when you want to flash the next release...

Connect to the box with FTP or via Explorer (if you're on Windows), the box should be listed as a device you can connect to.

 

I'm not home, so can't do much else atm.

Yes i can connect to the box and use ftp but i dont know what im looking for in hdd or how to retrieve it for you to look at it. If you can advise or log into my pc later we can look together via team viewer?

In the etc directory is a file called "backup.cfg". Copy it from the box to your PC, and attach it here (use the "More Reply Options" button).

 

No device here that would run team viewer, my PC is 600 km from where I am now... ;)

I got a backup folder in media/hdd is that the one ?

With lots of GZ files?

No, that is the backup itself.

 

You need the file backup.cfg, which is in the "etc" folder. By default, it contains this: https://github.com/E...ugin/backup.cfg

You need to scroll down, those are all folders which are listed first ;).

Weird, as autobackup is a plugin installed by default on every image, and without it, it won't make a backup at all...

I have set an auto backup everyday onto my usb but still there is no backup.cfg file in there either?

Does it matter?

Shall I create one or leave it, latest image running good?

If you go in the menu to Setup, Auto Backup, then press the menu button and choose option 1: select files to backup. Then press "Ok" on etc. Are there entries with a green check mark?

If so, the backup,cfg must be there? If not, it doesn't backup anything.

Yes files are ticked inside etc but the etc folder isn't ticked. Shall i tick that?

I still don't understand why you can't find the backup.cfg file, yet the software has no trouble finding it.

While I was typing that, I realized:

root@vuduo4k:/# find / -xdev -name "backup.cfg"
/etc/backup.cfg
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/AutoBackup/backup.cfg

there is a default file installed in the plugin directory, and it is used as long as you haven't made any modifications.

 

So your backup is fine (now). If it was the cause of the problem we'll never know, as you've setup everything from scratch.

So dont tick any of the folders. Ok will leave them.

You know within the etc, home, run, tmp, usr and var folders shall leave the default ticks or is there any i should have ticked?
