M3xl could consider to adapt... Or we have to find a way to get it both ways compatible...
But adapting may fix serviceApp play via pip on vu...

Oh btw mx3L, forgot to mention.
I've tried your gstreamer pull for using uchardet for detecting the encoding.
I've also installed the most common libc encodings you mentioned.

It's working great so far.
Havent encountered any strange non-ascii characters rendering wrong.

I added in attachment all recipes necessary to build most recent version on openpli-oe-core master-next branch.

For others, currently I'm experiencing problem with HLS playback on ffmpeg 3.1.1 also on 3.2, I get pixelated picture on

http://devimages.app.../bipbopall.m3u8 on any variant. Though 3.0 version works well.

I do not know what exactly you mean by the "pixelated picture", but on the solo2 I do not see anything like this.

I'm using Taapats ffmpeg patches as well.
I havent tested the above url but Indont have problems with pixelated hls streams.

i try to build image based on oealliance with serviceapp plugin but i get this error
