Forget USB sticks altogether... Linux STB's are not fully fletched PC's. For any WiFi stick to work you need the exact chipset info, the correct drivers and firmware for your STB's kernel. Since most vendors won't care much for STB's they are (very) hard to find if any.. If you get them to work any update to your box may destroy it again.

Get yourself a WiFi bridge (costs the same), program on your PC to fit your network's requirements and yank it into your STB. Reboot. 10 minutes of work and done.. And you can update your box without any worries...
Met één been in het graf..... Helaas

Install this ipk and let us know of the results.

 Hi,

I have tried to install your ipk file VU+ SOLO SE V2, but I get the following message:

Not selecting kernel-module-8192eu 1.0 due to incompatible architecture.
Unknown package 'kernel-module-8192eu'.
Collected errors:
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kernel-module-8192eu.

Any idea what it means and how it can be installed?

The driver should be on the feed.

So just installing rtl8192eu (opkg install rtl8192eu) should do the work.

So give a try and let people know that it works, then document this to new wiki so that other people can find it easily.

I meant it will help other people, not I. I'm just a noob. I already tried it and it works great. Are you gonna put it on the wiki? I don't understand....

Do the steps using feeds, then mention the steps and the outcome!

That's enough ;)

And after looking twice i notice that drivers should be on the feeds, for all!

So are they?

No, they are not:

root@hd2400:~# opkg info kernel-module-rtl8192* | grep Package
Package: kernel-module-rtl8192cu
Package: kernel-module-rtl8192c-common

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I saw recipe here: https://github.com/O...ek/rtl8192eu.bb

It's on rc-6, maybe we forget to build?

I checked on a develop box, which should have everything the rc has.

I see now: ${@bb.utils.contains("MACHINE_FEATURES", "externalwifi", "${EXTERNAL_WIFI_DRIVERS}", "", d)} \

Maybe build external for all?

(We miss the feature externalwifi, on some boxes)

I checked the buildserver, it's not being build. If you can add it to the rc, I'll merge it, and merge back to develop, so we can check tomorrow, and kick of another rc build.

Or is it a BSP feature (in which case we need to kick the manufacturers).

We can add it to depends, generally wifi needs more care (to the list for review).
