Dream has lost it's gloom and trend-setting features years ago. Dream now wants to reopen the German market exlusively as they are targetting Germany, Austria with their new boxes...

Another practical problem is that the old(er) DMM boxes simply don't have enough flash for a modern image. And we can't (and won't) word-arounds for that either.
For the moment the only box that builds a 5 test image is the DM8000.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Will version 5 make 4K streaming on YouTube possible for the HD51?
OpenPLi 5 has newer GStreamer where h265 is available.
So if Google uses h265/hevc and there is a way to get 4K (youtube plugin or whatever) it might work.

Hi,
I wholeheartedly agree about that Dream has lost it's gloom, even here in Sweden. I think the reason for this has to do with OpenPli dropping further development for Dream. Well, we all know the reason why, and I fully support that statement. Other brands have overtaken the market especially Vu+ with higher end boxes and cheaper prices. You get a lot more bang for the buck with Vu+ boxes and honestly I think they're even more stable.
I am, though, as many others really looking forward for an OpenPli 5 release

All official supported boxes exept wetekplay.
Even the DM8000 is running fine on OpenPLi5
Also, there is no 5 atm for the DM500HD, the DM7020HD and the DM800SE, due to kernel and space issues.

The hd51 has NO support for HEVC in media, so no YouTube etc in HEVC. That is something that Mut@nt will need to fix, like VU+ and Edision did.

But Youtube uses the VP9 not HEVC.

So if Google uses h265/hevc and there is a way to get 4K (youtube plugin or whatever) it might work.
Does the new GStreamer supports VP9, because YouTube uses it for FullHD and 4K. The HD51 has supports both formats, will it work out of the gate when OpenPLI 5 comes available?
