Hello,

after years of OpenPLi 4 I have finally flashed openpli-6.0-rc-vusolo-20170918_usb.zip

Flash did correctly finish: it changed from red to orange three times and I restarted when green lights were blinking.

After that steady red light.

Usb just lights one instant on reboot but apparently refuses to reflash.

Now about the three files in OpenPLi6: why is boot_cfe_auto.bin so different? Is it the right one?

The one in OpenPLi 4 is around 420 bytes and this one is over 4 KB.

I'll see with serial later today.

Cheers

P.S. CFE was already updated to support large images. Vusolo is genuine.

No signs of life on serial port.

I start thinking some capacitors are aging: I'll open the device to see.

Anyway, it  would really be a striking occurrence that the red led syndrome appears on first 6.0-rc reboot...

I'll let you know.

Cheers

It happens to me when flashing OpenPLi 4 on my ET-9000, it just die due to a capacitor problem and it was a pure coincidence that it happens after the flash.

I think that the fact to power off/power on to start the flash has an impact on the capacitor. So yes this kind of coincidence happens.

Quick update:

got back the board from a nearby service center: they say the passive components are ok, power is flowing.

They could not check the nand flash but hinted it is the most probable defective IC component on the board.

I tried one last time with a different serial port but the results are the same: nothing on boot.

Both interfaces are working with duo2 so my conclusion is that somehow the flash sector used by CFE gives read error.

Very strange: I flashed the solo bootloader only once, years ago....

I don't have the time/interest to hack it with jtag: it is going in the trash.

Strange coincidence, though...

Cheers
