Can you past a complete log file!

Ok, I understand. And I think that pressing the remote power 15 seconds is not clean, it's only hard shutting and do not close properly the software.

 

 

I do not understand this statement ..; So why has this long support been installed, if using it causes sofware problems?

It CAN cause problem, it's not systematic .

 

I've tried again and commands init 3, 4, 6 don't stop the "spinner", only "shutdown -n -r now".

 

And yesterday night, I crashed again the box with the stop command. In fact, while I've indicated "exit on service", it was replaced by "exit on list of movies". A few years ago, I had the same problem with the parameter which indicate what to do when the reader reaches the end of the movie. I choose "keep in pause" in the same menu (recording) , it replaced it regularly by "go to the list of movies" .

 

Littlesat, as I haven't a green screen, only the spinner, there is no crash log.

 

But as other guys asked me,  I've tried "ENIGMA_DEBUG_LVL=4 /usr/bin/enigma2" and you have the result here :

With "dmesg -c", I get :

Ok but as I've found a circumvention to avoid the hang, I should want this parameter doesn't change itself as I explained previously. When I select "return to service", it's boring it changes itself to "return to the list of film", what hangs the box .

Change the parameter, put the box in stand-by, wake-up the box and play movie.

Parameters changes are only saved when the box is put into stand-by, so if you change a parameter and the box crash or hang and you need to restart it, the changed parameters won't be saved.

No, the box. It's longer because I don't know what it does when I restart Enigma.

 

And is Enigma on Linux and Pli on Enigma (Linux => Enigma => Pli) ? Or is Enigma a version of Linux as Ubuntu ? I don't know.

OpenPLi is the combination of both + hardware drivers + any other external components added, packaged in a single zip file (or nfi file) referred to as a "firmware image". You could compare it to Microsoft providing you with Windows + MediaCenter + additional recording tools on a single DVD for you to install.

 

In addition, every image builder has his own additions and changes to the linux environment, and every image builder uses an Enigma version they have forked from somewhere. Most are forks of either OpenPLi or VU+, and both of them are in turn forks of the original DMM GPLv2 code.

It's not easy to understand. Is Enigma as Windows ? If it is we can launch a lot of applications in Windows. And i can exit a Windows application while I can't exit pli.

 

Is it as the very old Windows which run on Dos ? And Yocto is Dos, Enigma Windows. But I don't know where is Pli.

No, Yocto linux is like Windows. The operating system. Enigma is the application. Like Windows Media Center is an application.

 

From a technical point of view, the Windows you see isn't really Windows. You see the desktop environment, that presents you with a GUI so you can login, use a mouse, start applications, etc. Underneath that, Windows has a commandline to. Linux works the same, the operating system itself has a commandline. On top of that you run a desktop environment like Gnome, Unity, or KDE.

 

You can exit Enigma without problems, it is just setup so that if you exit, it will restart again. This is what the "Restart Enigma" option in the menu does. And exiting is a bit pointless, as there are no other applications. But technically you can run other applications, a HbbTV browser. or Kodi, is an example of another application that runs on the box.

Ok, Enigma is an application and relies on Yocto, Enigma is over Yocto. And OpenPli is over Enigma or imbricated with Enigma ?

No, OpenPLi is a brand name, not a product.
