There is not enough cpu power on mipsel to perform viterbi decoding.

Please feel free to provide an mipsel optimized viterbi algorithm.

Until then, just forget mipsel.

Ah, a pity; I just received my (cheap Chinese) stick and I only have mipsel boxes :(

It's normal, once the picture displayed without issues, removed to keep /tmp space low https://github.com/s.../plugin.py#L474

It seems that GStreamer cannot understand the format printed in output when dumping RAW mpeg2.

$ gst-typefind-1.0 /tmp/mp2
/tmp/mp2 - FAILED: Could not determine type of stream.
$ file /tmp/mp2
/tmp/mp2: MPEG ADTS, layer II, v1, 160 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo
$ ffprobe -v error -show_format -show_streams  /tmp/mp2
/tmp/mp2: Invalid data found when processing input
Most probabably a "header"? is required before dumping the frame out.

https://github.com/J...r.cpp#L605-L608

If somebody knows how MPEG2 should be written in output in order to Gstreamer to recognized it, offer a patch.

So ouput to PCM seems the only option for DAB.

after testing
something strange is just this station.
It usually starts audio and after half a minute or so
dump the next (my shot)
This station is 128 kbps.
(I do not have another radio station to compare)

Other 96kbps stations on the same DAB+ band (11C) work without any problems.
Does this relate to bitrates , I do not know.
Or something is wrong with the broadcast of this radio

faad is working now display radio text and radio logo

but it is significantly slower when station dialing/change.

For audio quality I'm not sure what's better faad or pcm

Hi,

Please find a full capture with dab2eti from belgian block 12B (226648000 Hz) which contain both DAB and DAB+.
What doesn't work with it is the pictures which are not displayed probably that they use something different than MOT.

From what I see with XPADXpert they are 11 DAB channels (audio) but we also have 11 non Audio channels, I wonder if they don't send the picture on this other channels, one per Audio channels.

The file size is 13,9 MB:

https://mega.nz/#!iB...jiutbkAmL5sHvp4

Pictures are properly displayed on a DAB/DAB+ radio with LCD.

I've got a new USB device. It's an original RTL-SDR.COM one, bought directly at USA via amazon.      Attached File  20180118_011620_.jpg   240.58KB   2 downloads

It works faster than the other one I had, chinese one.

PPM is -1, instead of 71 from old one.

FM tuning is also better, sound quality has less noise.

Sorry, I can't help with images. Currently in Spain no images are transmitted on any station.

https://www.rtl-sdr....3-Datasheet.pdf

Here you have information about frequencies and specifications.

With this RTL SDR you can use the so-called direct sampling mode
But I have to say (I did not test) ,
for serious use
a HF converter is required for frequencies below 30 Mhz HF.

Or another RTL-SDR with a built-in converter.

On the sales website is often seen Chinese converter
I do not recommend it because it's a simple converter for a bit more money you have a better one
for HF .

With direct sampling you should be able to tune to <14 MHz.... I just asked you if it is e.g. possible to receive AM radio with it...

Instead of converters I would prefer to go for SDRplay or so... as it has better sampling and filters etc.,, (e.g. the 1a of them) they are 130 Euro's and then not a real work-a-round.

I noticed that FM gives Mono sound.

I thought it was because my chinese usb dongle was a cheap one (it doesn't really have much difference compared to a good one), but now I see it is because rtl_fm just works with one audio channel.

rtl_fm -f %sM -M fm -l 0 -A std -s 171k -g 40 -E deemp -F 0 - | gst-launch-1.0 fdsrc ! audio/x-raw, format=S16LE, channels=1, layout=interleaved, rate=171000 ! audioresample ! audio/x-raw, format=S16LE, channels=1, layout=interleaved, rate=48000 ! dvbaudiosink

Is it possible to enable stereo, or it'd have too much CPU load ?

https://github.com/jorisvr/SoftFM

SoftFM actually produces pretty good stereo sound
when receiving a strong radio station.  Weak stations are noisy,
but SoftFM gets much better results than rtl_fm

That is one of the possibilities.
Of course, first look at what's available on the market
for a certain amount of money.

I have not try direct mode,
I doubt it has good results because you must have a very strong signal to hear something.
Otherwise, without a long antenna there is no good reception at low frequencies.
The big problem at the lower frequencies are local disturbances of home devices and TV sets.

I have built NooElec RTL SDR stick into NooElec HF converter
so it is now a complete receiver.
And I have also big disturbances below 2Mhz of home devices and TV sets.

I have a simple antenna tuner that also serves as a front filter.
On Radio amateur frequencies can hear the whole world with wire antenna.
