New test images for mecool devices, changes are about:

- IanSav's new virtual keyboard
- Persian Prince's patch (prince.patch which I borrowed it from PLi vision image so you could taste it)
- wlan (autoload dhd)
- resolution (60hz added and it's 720p60hz/bpp=32 now, if you still have problem try using 720p50hz/bpp=32 instead)

tests:

k2 pro (v1) no boot... only message: "bootimg..."

k3 pro no boot, no message, only android logo.

k1 pro: now, with this build, all picture pink screen and first setup not full screen. If change to night HD appear full screen. Previous build, normal screen, not pink.

Strange... after some reboots, pink screen disappear. Now show "normal" screen (night hd for full image)

There was no pink screen with me on K1 Pro. From your description, I suspect that your HDMI cable may be faulty.

I'll try new cable. Thanks

After removing the build directory I can build images successfully, I'm also facing the error that some users are facing where the screen stays black with only a text saying "Please wait: Booting", looking at the Uart logs, I see that some drivers (the Wlan support we added recently ) are delaying the boot and starting of enigma2:

OK, It turns out the culprit is the 8189es that was added recently, It just blocks the whole boot sequence(probably due to missing firmware), but I will remove it since these devices has builtin wifi anyways

For users who had their devices stuck at "please wait: booting" do this:

plug your sd card to a different computer, you probably needs linux to read the ext4 file system on the second partition,

then remove this file:

 /etc/modules-load.d/8189es.conf

this will prevent the autoload of that module and hopefully solve the stuck boot on the black screen.

Or you can wait for the next batch of test images that will have these modules removed

Just google "uart usb cable" or "USB to TTL adapter"

I use this one https://www.aliexpre...2345829369.html

Keep in mind that you have to open the box and probably solder some pins if the Uart header is not populated.

if you don't want to open the box, amlogic has an sdio dongle that connects to the sdcard port and gives you (UART, JATG and sdcard) but I  don't know where they sell it

Test images dm900 and dm920.

Built with sumo branch openpli-oe-core, pli-extras and meta-dream.

Sumo has a newer openembedded-core than develop brach with:

-gcc 7.3.0

-glibc 2.27

-openssl 1.0.2o

-Python 2.7.14

etc.

No feed, so no plugins and no updates!

Just for test if the image boot or not and to test some basic functionality.

@zildan, After the last line does the board restart or just stuck ?

I don't see any of the initramfs scripts getting executed, do you see the blue light on the device blinking blue and red ?

Regards

After removing the build directory I can build images successfully, I'm also facing the error that some users are facing where the screen stays black with only a text saying "Please wait: Booting", looking at the Uart logs, I see that some drive umrs (the Wlan support we added recently ) are delaying the boot and starting of enigma2:

I will try to take a look at it

I need a way to log using UART cable. Do you have the link or picture to show this cable? I need buy one.
I have rs232/UART P2 cable to log my Octagon sx88, but this Mecool I don't know.
Thanks.

Regards

Wow! I have 3 UART cables...Now I see motherboard pictures with RX, TX and GND.

Last year I did the recovery using my cable to boot again my AZBOX ELITE.

Thank all for this pictures. This weekend I'll test all my Mecool devices.

Feedback on K1 Pro, today's test image:

Boot: OK

Resolution: Full screen display with Fullnight HD skin (not on default skin).

Remote: Working

Wifi: Working , network scan OK, connected successfully (hurray!). The only issue now is in entering password for wifi network because the remote does not work as it should do. On pressing number keys, it only types numerals, no alphabets typing possible. I was able to give password by using wireless keyboard.

Tuner: 4 tuner modes visible. DVB-S scan done, found channels on some initial TPs. No video or audio on saved channels. PAT error message after few seconds, as earlier. Channels and tuner settings lost after reboot.

Hats off to Persian Prince and moham96 for their efforts in this regard :) :) :).
