It is not unlogical ... a lot of users using shortcuts ... up/down is slow ... and usualy on PC's filemanagers is F5 - Copy, F6 - Move,  F2 - Rename, F8 - Delete ...

We did that on pc's in 80's, nowadays we go for graphic oriëntations. Unfortunaly we don't have touchscreen or mouse as input devices for our settop yet, so we use the up/down selector to manage our selection.
I don't think we can aggree to this subject, guess we leave.

These kind of shortcuts are still there.... !!!! Ctr+X,C,V cut, copy, paste... Windowskey+e for explorer etc...m. nothing eighties... a must when you want quicky do something without a hurting mousehand...

The skin is valid to all enigma2 recievers hd and uhd(4k) running PLi 6.2 as it is the standard.

Shutcuts are not for the common user, it becomes a problem when it obstructs proper skinning. As I found out recently.

As a suggestion, we could add a skin option so the skin designer could decide whether to show the shortcuts or not. That shouldn't be too difficult?

 

In the end, if you as an enduser wants shortcuts, you are free not to use this skin.

But he can create tranparency key_,,,png in his skin and all is solved ...  Position of text he can move left in skin.xml with parameter ChoicelistName(15, , , ,)

Just trying to help out.

 

From what I understood from the discussion (without looking at the code), the question was to remove the shortcuts completely, which means ChoiceList must not generate them? You can't deal with that in the skin.

ChoiceList can hide shortcuts pngs, but there exist still 4 pngs: bullet (for plugin in list) , expandable, expanded, verticalline.

 

And tne shortcuts must be turned off in ChoiceBox.py

for remove buttons in PLI-FullHD/skin.xml put under <parameters> this 2 lines  (one replace, i think it exist yet):

Hey guys,

This more than I expected from this. But WanWizzard you did not understand me correctly. I would give up bennefits from shortcuts for a normal skinnable menu. IMS's solution is OK, but it's more or less a hiding of unwanted parts of skin.

I' managed to make the spacing between the lines wider and the font a little bigger. Problem now is the p q and g are missing the lower part e.q. they are only partly visible.

Nexr I will checkout IMS's code.

Quite possible. I can read code, but have no clue otherwise...

if p,g,q has missing bottom parts, you set it wrong.

 

1) there is ItemHeight, fontsize and then text position defined with "parameter" in skin: 

<parameter name="ChoicelistName" value="15,3,1000,31"/>

numbers are: x, y, w, h

 

Text is placed in "rectangle" and this rectangle is defined with:  x,y = position left-top corner in one line, w = width, h = height.  "h" must be >= linesize.

And linesize is proportional to the fontsize... f.eg. several sizes for Regular font in PLi-FullHD:

Example: if you want ItemHeight = 40 and fontsize=30, then you set: h=35 and x = 2 or 3  ... (40-35)/2

 

Btw - I do not know, why do you want increase choicebox sizes ... I am watching 46" TV from 4,5meters (ideal would be 3,5-4m) and all is perfect visibled

This makes sense, when you know your way around, I'm sure you now your way in this skinning code. There is simply no manual for this and as me belonging to not-knower I can only learn by making little change to code and see what happen. I think this is the part of code that's been a mystery to me for long time. Thank you for clearing this up.

 

My aim is to make all even templates, so the main menu become little smaller, the extension menu a little bigger etc. The same counts for the app's, it should look and feel like Pli-FullHD skin. This would be an easy job when all menus and lists would use more or less the same code. When enigma would be compiled nowadays I'm sure the extension menu would be an standard menu, the shortcuts would be an added option.

btw - in skin.py are more parameters for fullHD skins. You can rewrite it in skin.xml under <parameters>

Yes, I can see this unlogical numbering in channellist/ menu. But don't see why we want that as we use up/down keys for selection.

So if it was to me, i'll take out this whole selection menu and make it like standard menu.

I would also use <long press menu> instead of <blue button>. Guess this would need some python programming too.

No, we ask to have those number in the menu to be able to use shortcut.

I guess that you never create a new favorites and adding channel to it. You will see that those shortcut number are really welcome and used.

I use Menu - 5 then I can easily add channels to favorites.

I don't have to press Menu - press down many time, select Add to favorites, press OK then select the favorites.

 

So yes shortcuts are really helpful and used!

Suit yourselve, I prefer managing my favourites by DreamBoxEditor E2, it also manages my self-designed picon. Works like a charm also.

 

Ones or twice a year I add an channel from fastscanlist to my favourite bouquetlist and I'm sorry to say I use up/down keys to do it.

 

If the order would be 1 to 9 from top to bottom, I'll would consider using shortcut, but remembering all menus from my STB to head is nonsense.

 

I'll Guess you remember your channellist and menu by head too, you'll probably don't use the channellist and menu at all? Sorry to say my head is not big enough to fit this information.

 

But after all, with the help of IMS (still he's my hero) I got my menu the way I like it.
