Hello,

anyone using component cables instead of HDMI? Sadly HDMI is again out of operation, 2nd time in 5 years. Also Duo2 seems a bit sluggish in operation for a few months now, also slow to respond to remote commands. I am afraid that there is again some problem with caps on motherboard. Same as with Vu+ Duo I also have.

Whats the resolution you get on component? I read on vix forum that it supports 1080p, but I only get 720p on my plasma E550 Samsung. Maybe limitation with TV?

It sucks to watch 720p on 1080p TV.

Ah, I choose wrong setting. Video output to YPbPr and then 1080i. Works fine.
Picture still very good.

"On HDMI you have hd... all others are sd! Technically not possible..."

Dat klopt niet. Via component is HD prima mogelijk.

- Composiet: meestal geel plugje, 1 kabel. Max. SD in PAL of NTSC encoded

DVI is hd.

The DVI signal is technically equivalent to HDMI. DVI was originally Video-only, but later Audio was added. Misused by DMM to avoid the HMDI license payment... ;)

Hi littlesat, reapeating fake facts does not make them true. Component CAN OUTPUT HD. Composite CANNOT OUTPUT HD. I for myself used Component from SCART in the beginning for HD on my VUs. New boxes do not have SCART or Component. Ralf

It is not a fake fact...It is full true fact so please do confuse our gasts here with your fake facts!!!.... our boxes do not deliver more than 720x576 at the analogue component and/or composite ports...

That for monitors on PCs etc you have a higher resolution analogue than SD is not relevant here....

Do you want more than SD then you need to use the HDMI (of for the ancient DMM boxes DVI) port....

And indeed more and more of the latest boxes do not have component and/or composite connection at all...

Al our boxes do downscale to SD on the analogue component or composite ports...

But he's right, component supports HD till 1080i, he didn't refer to the current component output of 'our' STB boxes.

Component CAN OUTPUT HD. Composite CANNOT OUTPUT HD

It is possible to output 1080i on component, AND it has always worked with e2 as well (though I didn't check this recently). So unless someone broke it in e2 in the last two years or so, it should still work fine.
And reading the comments from the topicstarter, it is still working as expected.

Hi, I think you refuse to understand I HAD 1080i OVER COMPONENT on my VUs a few years ago. Ralf
