Hi

When i install the latest Pli for DM800 and try to install software updates, after reboot the box just stands still on booting sequence. Nothing seems to happen even after an hour or so.

This used to work fine when the image was just released, maybe some new update that cause the box to stop? I had this same issue trying gemini 3.50.

Any ideas what could be wrong here?

This can only be caused by the driver.
I suggest you don't update. Till there is a new driver, which works with all tuners.

Are there diffrent DVB-S tuners in the DM800s? I asked the question on a .se forum and some people have no problem at all with using software update.

Anyway, for now i have original software installed but updated drivers from http://sources.dream...0080605.tar.bz2

Box works but quite buggy regarding recording with HDD and playback.

But i guess waiting for new updates from dream is the best here, thanks

all tuners should be the same, but I can imagine that for instance one of the driver parameters is chosen too tight for the natural spread in the specifications of the hardware.

I finaly received my db800 today. Descrambling the serial it sayes that it was produced 23th of may.
I installed pli, and unfotrunatley have the same problem like mrchisholm (the box is tryin to boot forever).

U suggest we should wait, but can you recomend any image that is working, so we can play till u issue new version of pli image?

How do you have instaled PLi ? DU ? Or WI ? `Cause it seems, told by dealer, that it has some problems in COM port... I`ve to instaled via WI and no problems till now... Better,my problems are caused by me...not cause of PLi...

What date is you dreambox produced?

Where can I see the date ? I`ve just received it last thursday, so I think it`s one of the lasts... Do you have update the SW of original image ?? I`ve, f.e, solved a sound problem with that... I had bad sound in DVI/HDMI and after update the SW everything is OK... In information I have now only PLi information...

Yes I tried original image (its the only one that works) beside pli tried also to install nabilo image but same problem persists BOOTS FOREVER.

The date can be seen on the serial number.
first 4 digits from my serial 8523.

Mine is 8522.... And it`s working well. I just finished a Factory Reset, cause I`ve made some errors when instaling satellites...and it`s OK again...

When will I be able to get this using "Software Update" from within the image?

as a test, you could install the attached drivers.

place the file in /tmp, open a console, and type

ipkg install /tmp/dreambox-dvb-modules_2.6.12-5.1-brcmstb-dm800-20080618-r0_dm800.ipk

followed by a reboot.

And please let us know whether it solves anything.

The only way I can enter with ftp and telnet is with official dream image.
How to enter into the box when I have pli image and doesnot want to boot?

what does it look like when it doesn't want to boot?
Do you see anything on the display?
Does it boot in an endless loop?

If the display just stays black, you simply have to unplug/plug the power cable very quickly, and it should boot.

Its endless loop m8 ( with the 321 animation) pli image is on the screen all the time (btw please make some 1920x1080 image for boot, this one does not look well on my hd screen )

its working with official image and also succeded to boot with pli image 4904 (found it on internet).

If it loops in 321, you should be able to login, and update the drivers.

Perhaps first stop e2 from looping, by typing 'init 4'

neverthesss!!! all fixed now
tried another image (NabiloBlackHole_DM800_02b.nfi), the box is booting and working great.
guess that image has the latest drivers and its working

we don't know, perhaps it has the old drivers instead.
People report it works fine with the 20080521 Iolite image, till they do an online update.
So that old driver also works.

Perhaps you could check which driver date nabilo is using?
