Hi,

I had read that OpenPli 6.2 added drivers that rendered the security board inactive, so that we don't have to worry about the Security Board battery dying.

I was wondering whether OpenPli 7.0 also inactivates the security board with these same drivers.

Thanks very much in advance, and thanks for all of the years of great images!

Those drivers are still thesame as noone is able to create new drivers nor update the BSP. Due to the fact that Xtrend seems to have vanished completely this won’t change in the future. Their website seems to be offline too since two months.

Thanks Frenske, but I am now confused.....

When using OpenPli 6.2 the security board is inactivated (works even without battery) and this is also the same in OpenPli 7.0?

I'm referring to the post April 24 2018:

-----

Great news for all (former) Xtrend users. Securitycheck removed.
Securitycheck removed from several, possibly all Xtrend models.

Due to the failure of the Securityboard and the fact that Xtrend / NexTV wasn’t able to help their users quite a few Xtrend STB’s landed in the trashbin. It now appears that this problem suddenly seems to be solved in the latest drivers. Besides solving the annoying problems with the et8000 / et10000 now also the security check is disabled in those new drivers. Those specific drivers are available from OpenPLi 6.2. The result is that many (former) Xtrend users still can use their old set-top box again.

---

and also to a link in the Nachtfalke forum where someone tested an ET9000;

---

Box funktioniert ohne SB !!!!!

I've just flashed OpenPli 6.2 Jan 22 version and ran the lsusb command:

So this means that the security board is still active?

Be careful that the driver without the Security Board are really buggy, especially if you are watching IPTV. Some people prefer to reuse the oldest driver with the security check.

Hi guys,

I don't understand why there is all this reserve behind this security board matter.

On the web I found valuable information on how to revive our old xtrend boxes Clarke Tech/ Xtrend ET9*00.

you can use these 2 images:

openpli-6.2-rc-et9x00-20180507_usb

openatv-6.2-et9x00-20180511_usb

everything has already been tested by other people with a positive result, you can read here: h**ps://www.nachtfalke.biz/f216-et-serie/69513-secboard-et9x00-receiver-openatv6-2-openpli6-2-deaktivieren.html

Indeed the et9x00 series securitycheck has been removed too with those special drivers.
Besides this I feel that the et9x00 series is actually e.o.l. at this moment. But it’s only my personal opinion.

If that is the case, they should be removed in 7.2-release as well, the drivers haven't been changed in dogs years.

But according to post #9 that is not the case?

New update, I installed openpli-6.2-rc-et9x00-20180507_usb and removed the buffer battery from the Secuity Board, the box works without problems.
Then I flash the latest openpli-7.2-release-et9x00-20200302_usb and the box continues to work without SB.

That was not a good idea. The new drivers which work without security board have some issues. Especially when you need playback of media files. Watching TV works afaik.

I confirme that the driver without the security check are very buggy, so people often go back to older driver version with the security check.
For me OpenPli should stop producing images for this model which is now e.o.l. this is a non sense to try to continue providing support when the drivers are so buggy and we have no more support.

(google translated) Unfortunately, I see it the same way.

Either bugs in the drivers or waiting for the box to die because of SecBoard.

Neither is a good option. So I scrapped my XTREND boxes.

That's a pity. I liked them very much.

But it didn't make sense for me to continue using them.

I switched to another brand and I am very satisfied.

'Watching TV works' can also be seen relatively.
I had a lot of ZAP errors with the new drivers (et10k, et9500).

If I wanted to go back with the drivers for the control of the Security check, what should I do?

Better to use openatv image?

There is no way back, you erased the data on the securityboard, the old drivers still use a working securityboard, you shouldn't remove the battery, now you bricked the board.

It was easier to unplug the USB cable from the securityboard.

If you flash an older image, the box won't startup anymore because the needed drivers will not load.
