Hey, thansk for the quick reply....

 

Well I restored my 6-config (after solving another problem) from the menu in a new clean 7 install,

Should I not have done that? 

 

If i use smbpasswd it results in:

 

root@VUDUO2:~# smbpasswd

Failed to open /var/lib/samba/private/secrets.tdb

root@VUDUO2:~#

 

Then after passwd

 

root@VUDUO2:~# passwd

Failed to open /var/lib/samba/private/secrets.tdb

tdbsam_getsampwnam: failed to open /var/lib/samba/private/passdb.tdb!

New password:

Retype new password:

hello again....

I re-installed OpenPLI 7 plus my latest (made under 7) backup.... 

I worked...

It must have been a non-standard config, OpenPLi uses smbpasswd, and not tdb, as a security backend.

 

Good to hear you got it fixed.

You must be right, I must have tried to change settings there in order to get it up and running.
