Hi everyone, I have a problem with the zgemma h9 combo, but I don't understand if it's an error or an openpli image problem. Let me explain better, I mounted on the deco the openpli-7.2-rc-h9combo dated 04.11.2019 but I can't find in the menu, the Hard disk item to be able to format the microsd.

You might have choose for the expertmode. Menu - setup - system - expert setup - user settings and change this to expert.
At least that’s what I hope.

Format the micro-sd in a computer as ext4 and then insert it into the H9.

Also tried this but nothing, I think it is a problem of the image, because if I enter the decoder by ftp, the microsd is seen without problems. Virtually the image does not show me the menu to manage Hard Disk

What exactly do you want to manage?

I can imagine that the menu item isn't shown because an SD card is not a HDD (and only hdd's are perhaps supported)?

I have a similar issue with a Mut@nt HD60. The OpenPli 7.1 does not see the TF card at all (hence no menu-item to set it up).. It probably only searches for USB and internal HDD's... It's not just OpenPli... Other images don't detect them either.... That's the advantage of MultiBoot.. You can try every image you like...

I expected that, so it needs to be looked at.

Well you obviously haven't tried all the images!! - the issue is that it comes up as mmcblk1p...(so has to be handled differently)   a zgemma favourite trick (the H9 uses mmcblk0.. ) for a SD card

The challenge will be to make sure the correct device is shown in all cases, without the risk of end-users formatting the internal eMMC and brick the box. And this without "if h9 then elseif hd60..." hardcoded hacks...

Is that the same on all boxes with multiple eMMC devices?

Then it is still an challenge...

What probably needs to happen is change "backlist hardcoded all eMMC devices" to "blacklist the boot device".

Not always!
Normal rootfs, kernel partitions on Edision boxes are located on mmcblk1. At least for mio4k(+)

Thought so. So it might be safer to find the boot device, and exclude that. That should work in all cases.

In most cases, but not all. In some boxes it's possible to boot from SD card. SD card is mmcblk1 or mmcblk2 or sda. I such case I would say you still shouldn't be able to format/partition mmcblk0 (if that's your internal flash memory).

Looks like all eMMC's are blacklisted here: https://github.com/O...arddisk.py#L613

Yep all emmc is blacklisted on specific boxes... how do we determine which of them is the boot (partition)? Only when we can determine this is a proper way we can safely allow emmcs on those boxes when we try to exclude the boot partition.
As you can see sometimes 0 is boot and sometimes 1
