Just flashed 7.3 in slot 3 and it's almost perfect!

May I ask how you fixed that buggy driver which was causing long delay when zapping between tuners in twin models?

It's now instant, like on the same tuner. I tried many others and this is the first image since December 2019 that handles this kind of zapping so fast, very well done.

I said "almost perfect" because the only thing that is missing for me is HbbTV. Isn't it possible to add that "webkitHbbTV" to the feed like openATV did?

It works very good and fast in Octagon SF8008, please consider adding HbbTV and 7.3 will be my favourite image.

ATV "stole" the HbbTV implementation from another vendor. Since HbbTV is a closed source implementation under license, we will not do that.

Hi all,

 

just purchased brand new Otagon SF8008 Twin. First thing I did was flashing newest OpenPLi 7.3 (upgraded with opkg) and I have a problem. It freezes in non regular time intervals:

• sometimes it works for 2 hours and crashes, and sometimes it freezes 3 times per hour
• only way to reboot is to hard power off and on again (does not react to remote nor ssh or telnet)
• no crash logs are beeing created
• I have only debug mode logs which are not telling me a thing about an issue

The sympthoms are:

1. the image begins to pixel (like it was a huge thunderstorm with very high clouds)
2. then it frames (kind of screen flickering) until the green screen finally appears
3. sometimes the screen is always green, sometimes it switches to blue or white back and forth

The OpenPli version it 7.3 latest 24/08/2020 non multiboot. Installed additional software is openvpn, epgimport, ntupdate. OSCam in use.

 

What else is needed to debug this issue. Has someone faced similar problem ?

Can't say I have this problem.

 

Does this happen on all channels, or on specific ones? I see a lot of tuxtxt errors in the logs (the teletekst background reader).

Never had such problems. Please flash other images without settings restore and without installing any plugins. Does it still happen? Do you have other receiver to test the used coax cable?
Does the box become hot? Does it have enough fresh air?

It happens despite of selected channel. Coax cable are ok, I'm using 58000 SXR and it works with similr configuration (with Graterlia OS on board).

Temperature of the box is normal and was working in same place where old reciver was.

 

I have tried few other images:

 

• hyperion, 6.2, 6.3, 7.1
• openatv 6.2
• openeight newest

 

All have same issue. Longest working was openeight. Just found out that in April Octagon had a report about this kind of behaviour and they released firmware upgrade. Can't check my version bacause I gave my box to a friend who promissed to tak a look at this issue.

Any clues how to upgrade this firmware from manufacturer? Is it done via boot menu or can it be done online?
I cannot find it on the manufacturer website - which is vary badly written and user unfriendly by the way. On other forum I just sow somebody mentioning new firmware v.1.05.23 for SF8008 but no links ware provided.

By the way ATV 6.2 is a really old image and I am amazed that it worked alongside OpenPli, or are you just using one slot? - I would suggest a more recent 6.4 image)

You shouldn't be getting all those tuxtxt msgs - is that also happening on other images?? What are you using for a HDD? If external is it powered?

Very basic question - have you tried a different hdmi cable??

 

Don't remember any firmware upgrade, there were major changes to the recovery system, which if you usb flashed the latest OpenPli you should have (which is why I am amazed ATV 6.2 ran)

Lastly continuous hard power off will likely damage the box

If that happens with different images and also when your friend uses the box in other location, I would send it back. It’s really uncommon. Maybe cpu cooler is loose (hope that is the right word) and CPU become too hot.

I have another quite old box NC+ model 58000 SXR with Graterlia OS installed which I wanted to replace with SF8008.

 

Did not checked tuxtxt errors on other images. No external HDD/SSD installed, I did not even try since the box is not working.

Same problem was with HDMI cable delivered with box as also usign mine old one.

 

I am willing to agree with betacentauri that all leads to hardware issue. I will give it last one more try when it comes back to me. If it won't work I will make a complaint.

I'll update about the solution.

That is not much information to work from. Both streaming and transcoding works fine here.

I need to change something in settings? i have last update. I try by vlc and nothing. Same with smartiptv, stops on buffering. On zgemma everything works fine

No, all images are made from the same source. Sounds more like a network issue? Wireless?

7.3. Updates works but in network test i have ip adress not confirmed. wireless connection

Depends on how you connect, and to what.

 

By default an OpenPLi image doesn't have a password, and because of that, SSH is disabled (and WinSCP doesn't work either). Either install the password plugin, or login with telnet, to set a password.

 

Alternatively, if you connect via CIFS (for example Windows Explorer) to the harddisk share, you don't need a password.
