What are the tested external HDD models with DM800?
Tried WDH1U5000E http://www.wdc.com/w...00E&sl=en-US=
and box recognize it - initiated and ended with error -- cannot create movie folder. Should this model work with DM800 ? What are the right steps to install it? Is there possible to record on connected USB flash ?

you should really go for an eSata hdd. USB will not be fast enough to record (multiple) HD streams.

I use a 320gb IDE / USB external drive on my 800 and it would not work until I did a filesystem check on it. Now it works perfect for record and playback .. See attached images.
